Friends, Romans, countrymen. Before I begin my new series of threads on Soviet military lies and falsehoods, allow me to post here the links to some of my previous threads. I hope you find them enlightening! 😊

W moich tematach lotniczych AI zawsze łże. Zalanie internetu ruskimi treściami mocno skrzywiło zasoby, z których to gówno ciągnie „informacje”. Tfu.

Ku przestrodze. @sikorskiradek @w_zurek
Crime without accountability is practice. Justice is not vengeance. When the Soviet Union collapsed, we let euphoria blind us to the need for the hard work of investigation and responsibility. Do not forgive, do not forget, and clean house.

Cztery lata temu zostałem pierwszym polskim finalistą konkursu Historic Awards, organizowanego przez @RoyalAutomobile. I fajnie. Four years ago I became the first Polish finalist of the @RoyalAutomobile Historic Awards. And it still makes me feel good. 😊

There are many ways in which Musk helps Putin. #
Another note for SpaceX attorneys and PR: There was no need to issue an alert at all. Your own internal data showed a safe 2km pass. But you issued a 400m collision alert anyway. Why? Because the alert itself is the weapon. Issuing it triggered FCC Cond 16, legally freezing ICEYE so it couldn't dodge. STARLINK-35856 didn't use its auto-evasion. It just parked there and kept the false alarm blaring while Russia sprinted in. It wasn't an accident.

Yeah.
Same old story. Free speech is essential until they control the platforms. There’s too much billionaire money in politics until it’s their money. Too much debt until they’re in charge of spending. The Dems are too soft on defense until it’s time to kiss Putin’s ass.

Hey MAGA, when Trump says, “Smart people don’t like me,” he’s calling you stupid. You’re just too fucking stupid to notice.

Solid summary. #TrumpIsAMoron
Donald Trump has spent forty years telling us he's the greatest dealmaker alive, and the evidence is a book he didn't write. Armed with that, he marches into century-old conflicts with the preparation of a five-year-old at a chess tournament and the confidence of a man who's never lost anything except casinos, an airline, and the popular vote twice. The results speak for themselves. He's sold out America to Russia, pitched beachfront hotels on the rubble of Gaza, and signed a diesel deal with Moscow while the war it's funding is still going. He got Greenland, triumphantly, and never noticed he'd been handed the same 1951 defense agreement the US already had, rewritten in a bigger font. The best bit is what the actual author said afterwards. Tony Schwartz, the ghostwriter, called the book lipstick on a pig, said he'd title it The Sociopath today, and admitted he invented the phrase "truthful hyperbole" to dress up the lying. The man has a black belt in lying, and it's the only one he's ever earned. The one deal Trump ever closed was getting someone else to make him sound clever.

No normalka.

Russian commanders used to send small groups of soldiers to nearly certain death so that they could film them waving a flag in some village in Ukraine as evidence of their lies about advances. Successes had to be reported, after all, when the top brass demands results. There’s now even a name for these suicidal guys: флаговтыки (flag inserters). The process is rather simple: a local commander hears from neighboring units that they’ve advanced, and so he decides to report a bit of progress in the village his troops have been stuck for a while, reasoning that eventually they will take it and nobody would know the difference. The flag inserters would creep to some house, get filmed by a drone, and leave, if lucky. Sometimes there would be Ukrainian soldiers in the neighboring house. Often, these guys wouldn’t make it back. Sometimes the Russians would use old footage to claim they control areas they have long lost. And sometimes, they would just have AI generate some virtual conquests for them. Since only the local commander and his men truly know the actual situation, the lie gets amplified as it travels up the chain: each level embellishes it to make the sector it is responsible for look better until the front line on paper is 10 miles ahead of where the actual line of contact is. The fantasy conquests are then reported to Putin. It’s not entirely clear to me that the Russian high command even knows what the reality looks like. This is so widespread, that Z milbloggers and Russian officers constantly talk about how the lying must stop. There was an especially revealing episode when Putin personally claimed that the town of Sviatohirsk had been conquered only to have Ukraine’s General Biletskyi film himself wandering around the town without a helmet in broad daylight mocking him. The practice helps Ukraine on the front because local commanders being loath to report losing positions (or rear units not bombarding places that believe are under control of their own troops) means that it takes some time for the Russians to organize themselves when Ukraine achieves local successes, giving ZSU time to turn them into much more significant ones, as the recent operation Vivaldi demonstrates. While it is obvious why Ukraine maintained secrecy about the operation, the remarkable thing is that it remained invisible to the Russian milbloggers and, by the looks of it, the high command too, for months. The downside of the practice is that by giving Putin the impression that his horde is advancing, it makes peace even less likely.

Worth noting.
