Okay, but we all agree the Skinny Margaritas at The Cheesecake Factory are the only way to pre-party for a movie you're about to see at a mall, right?

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

“Several decades ago, my predecessor as the president of the University of Notre Dame, the Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, was presented with a dilemma. “A Jewish student, after repeated hazing by some kids in his dorm, had left campus and gone home. “After thinking it over, Father Hesburgh summoned the perpetrators. “Pack your bags,” he told them. “Go find your friend. Either you persuade him to come back to Notre Dame, or you don't come back.” wsj.com/articles/SB100014241…

25 years ago today, I stumbled into a 9am Shakespeare class in uptown Manhattan with Prof. David Kastan. By the time the class ended, the world had changed. Classes were cancelled for two days, and my first class back on Thursday morning was Shakespeare. “I will not make a political statement today,” Kastan said. “I only hope the people who will be making decisions on how to respond to Tuesday’s attacks read today's play." It was Titus Andronicus, Shakespeare's play about brutal violence and revenge. 10 years later, I found myself outside bin Laden's house in Abbottabad, Pakistan when the US had found its revenge.
