we got our office because we built a deal monitor for immoscout24 small office update. a lot of people dream about this and we actually pulled it off. a big part of our co founders moved here from different cities and for the last few months we've been going absolutely crazy here. when i moved to cologne 2-3 years ago i worked a lot from home, sometimes from a wework. wework itself was nothing for me, extremely much noise, extremely many people who don't work at all and just drink coffee. but i met a few good contacts there and one of them advises us today on a lot of things in our business, so it was worth it. at some point we got a private office inside the wework. 2000€ for 10m2. with 5-6 people it was deadly tight, no fun to work properly, everybody sitting on each other. but looking back it was an insanely good time. that room is where we built the foundation for what profitpath is today. with the growth we wanted a bigger office. so we started looking. many rejections until it finally worked. but how did we even get it? we shot it over our own immoscout24 monitor. i mean we've built thousands of monitors in the past, and what do you need if you want a good office? a proper monitor. so the office got pinged, 2 minutes later i wrote the guy directly and we had our kinda new york style brooklyn loft. furnished and built exactly how we felt like. pulled in nice glass walls to create office vibe with a meeting room and a public area on the first floor, downstairs a locked in zone with all the desks. one of the best decisions ever. you're at a place where everyone builds 24/7 dedicated on one product, no matter if profitpath, profitgo, profitdesk or future products, everybody here pushes it one step further every day. the cool part is having lunch with everyone, brainstorming longer in person. but there are downsides too. you first have to learn how to deal with that much noise and turn it into locked in sessions. i'm honestly sometimes just mentally exhausted and would need a home office day where i'm only with myself and my pc, not around people 24/7. but there are so many learnings on how you create focus in an office, how you keep the small talk and quick questions in discord so nobody gets pinged irl in the middle of a focus phase, and how you build a real company office culture. the coolest thing for me is how much acceptance and openness the office got. a lot of sellers come and visit us and then we build insane features together. many features of profitgo, profitdesk and profitpath only exist because of 1:1 conversations in this office, if you really think about it. extremely happy with the decision and would do it exactly the same way again. more content follows :)
