Black women take your capes off. We are gonna sit quietly and let folks fight their own battles and we are gonna focus on our own for the next 4 years.

Literally. I live in a city, work full time, and grow food. These things do not have to be mutually exclusive.

i'm currently working on my first program from one of the new community gardens and it's called "little buggers". i'll be taking kids around the garden to identify beneficial vs harmful bugs, help them create a natural bug spray, and do some cool craft activities. ๐ฅน๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐พ ๐

Iโm thrilled to reveal the cover of My Afro is a Rising Sun, written by Yaram Yahu and illustrated by me! This beautiful picture book, celebrating Black joy and identity, will be available on December 3, 2024, from Running Press Kids.

ALT The cover of a childrenโs book titled โMy Afro is a Rising Sunโ features a young Black child with a large, voluminous afro. The child is smiling and wearing a teal hoodie. The afro is illustrated as radiating like the sun, with bright yellow and orange rays extending outward from the childโs head. In the background, there is a mix of nature, with trees and a savanna, and an urban skyline, symbolizing both natural and city environments. The title is written in bold, colorful letters across the childโs afro.

BIG NEWS, YโALL BOI ๐
Iโm beyond thrilled to finally share that Iโm writing my first cookbook, โFrom the Roota to the Toota,โ with the incredible @4colorbooks, @bryantterry, and @jauneclaire! ๐ฝ๏ธ This book is a love letter to our southern roots, our heritage, and the stories we tell through food.
Itโs been nearly 3 years in the making, and I couldnโt have done it without the unwavering support of my amazing book agent @sallyekus and the brilliant team at @jvnlainc. Your belief in me and this project kept me going, and I am forever grateful.
This journey has been and will be a labor of love, and I canโt wait to bring you along for the ride. Trust me, you donโt want to miss this! Set your alarms, mark your calendars, and get ready to cook with me when โFrom the Roota to the Tootaโ drops in 2027. ๐
Stay tuned for sneak peeks, behind-the-scenes moments, and more as we get closer to launch. Trust me, youโll want to be first in line for *โFrom the Roota to the Tootaโ*โitโs GAME TIME ๐ช๐ฝ
