- $1B+ in state and local tax contributions - 20,000+ direct jobs - Communities like Phoenix, Tucson, Mesa, Chandler, Marana, and Cochise County have already adopted data center-specific rules. Growth should pay for growth. We can protect our communities, Arizonans' electricity bills, and our water supply while welcoming billions in investment. Here's some context on data center water use 💧 xitter.cf/project48az/status/211…
Lots of talk today about golf courses, data centers, and water. A little perspective: Data centers are estimated to account for around 0.15% of Arizona's annual water use. That's about a tenth of what golf courses use. And despite 70 years of growth, including 300+ golf courses and around 170 data centers, Arizona still uses about the same amount of water it did back then. We can have both.

$319 billion in semiconductor investment in Arizona since 2020. A $7 billion development going up next to TSMC. Another $7.8 billion in Phoenix-area data center investment, representing nearly 40% of all commercial real estate investment sales through August. These investments mean jobs, business for local suppliers, tax revenue, and new opportunities for our communities. Semiconductors and data centers are becoming a bigger part of what keeps Arizona's economy growing. We should welcome that progress, not simply tolerate it.

Orrrr you could move to Arizona. Lowest flat income tax in the nation: 2.5%. ☀️
The non-partisan tax foundation found that high income taxes hurt growth. It’s critical that Colorado voters reject Amendment 87 which would make Colorado the 9th highest taxed state. It’s not to late to vote No on amendment 87

My favorite part of this amazing and nuanced article by @danwwang is this part about Taiwanese families in Arizona: "And guess what? TSMC engineers and their families are having a great time. In interviews, they marveled at their new lives in the Sun Belt — the large homes, the friendly community, the opportunities for their kids." I hope that Arizona continues to be a welcoming community. I hope that TSMC workers love their new lives in Arizona. And I hope that both Taiwan and USA greatly benefit from this massive new relationship. h/t @ThomasGalvin for posting the article. nytimes.com/2026/10/23/opini…

We’d like to see both of those lines going up. More solar. More nuclear. Arizona has room for both.
The world is getting more of its electricity from renewables but less from nuclear power. If the world is to reduce its carbon emissions and tackle climate change, it needs to move away from fossil fuels to low-carbon power. There are two key sources of low-carbon electricity: renewables — which include solar, wind, hydropower and others — and nuclear power. While rapid growth in solar and wind has increased the amount of electricity coming from renewables, a lack of enthusiasm for nuclear means it’s playing a shrinking role in the global mix. In the chart, you can see the share of global electricity coming from fossil fuels, renewables, and nuclear since 1985. Since 2000, nuclear and renewables have followed very different trajectories. Back then, both accounted for a similar share of global electricity. But in 2025, renewables made up more than three times as much: 34% compared to 9%. The total amount of electricity produced by nuclear plants is about the same as it was two decades ago. But because the world produces much more electricity overall, its share of the electricity mix has declined. (written by @_HannahRitchie and @parriagadap)

The national average doesn't tell the whole Arizona story. Since 2020, residential electricity prices here are up 25.8%, less than overall U.S. inflation and well below the national electricity increase of 38.3%. Arizona's residential rates are also 15% below the U.S. average.
Americans are paying 38.3% more for electricity in 2026 than they did in 2020, per Bloomberg. That’s faster than overall inflation, which is up roughly 29% over the same period.

We want more Arizonans to build a career here at home. Progress like this is worth welcoming. @Intel says construction and equipment installation are now fully underway at its sixth chip factory at the Ocotillo campus in @CityofChandler, with plans to open before 2029. Its fabs typically employ 1,000–3,000 workers. Build. Build. Build.

Tesla says @Robotaxi is coming to Phoenix, and we're looking forward to it. The company reports: 3.1 million autonomous miles ➡️ 0 people injured by Robotaxi. Arizona made room for companies to develop this technology and put it to work. Now Phoenix is one of the first on the list. Announcements like this are worth getting excited about. Vehicles that don't text, get tired, or drink before driving are a pretty appealing idea. This is why we want Arizona to keep welcoming new technology. Getting more of us home safely is worth working toward.

Seen from space: four decades of the Valley's growth. 🌵 Since 1980, Arizona has grown from 2.7 million to more than 7.6 million people. But our biggest changes aren't all visible from above. Household incomes have risen, even after inflation. Crime rates have fallen. A greater share of Arizonans have college degrees. A smaller share live in poverty. And we've built an economy larger than the entire country of Norway. And despite all that growth, we've reduced emissions and water use. Air pollution emissions have fallen about 70% over the last few decades, and Arizona's annual water use has fallen by roughly 3 million acre-feet. That's roughly the same amount of water as Arizona's entire annual Colorado River allocation. That's what we built in a desert. Forty years from now, the next generation should be able to look at Arizona from space and see another story of progress. Let's keep building.
