I wonder if there could ever be a utopia where monthly subscription services refund you for months that you had 0 utilization automatically. More services have a "pause" option now, but from a user PoV that doesn't solve the psychological problem that the user wants solved.
I'd bet that for about 50% of subscription services this would actually yield a higher LTV (not for all of them, since only some subs have the property that they are billed as subs but the use case is obviously episodic)
Investors be like "I don't want you to send me a blurb I want you to WANT to send me a blurb"
I really dislike it when my investors ask me to "send a blurb".
1- You invested in my company. You should already know what I'm building.
2- You and I both know that generic blurbs never work. What works is a hand-crafted message from a warm contact (i.e. you, the investor).
3- On top of that, asking for a blurb is lazy. It throws the work back on me (the founder) at precisely the moment when I'm asking for support.
If you REALLY wanted to be helpful, you would write the intro yourself + ask for my edits/approval.
Just sayin'
How I got to $276 Billion in ARR by asking someone for one dollar -
There are 525,600 minutes in one year.
1. I asked someone for a dollar
2. They gave me $1.
3. Little did they know it was a recurring plan that renews every minute (cancel anytime)
4. 10 seconds later, I projected my financials based on the assumption that I could do this every minute in the future.
5. So I now have $1 per minute = $525,600 recurring revenue for the year from each sale
6. But I will ask someone for $1 every minute, which means I'm actually adding $525,600 in ARR every minute
7. So my ARR is now $525,600 * 525,600 which is about $276 Billion.
I really hope I can raise my series A in the next 50 seconds.
This is like saying you should avoid all coffee shops because one time Starbucks forgot to add whipped cream to your mocha

VC: **frowning** that can't be right...
barista: **sighs** that'll be $2,332.35 ARR
VC: **smiling** yes!
Is it just me or is everyone else anecdotally experiencing higher than normal data breach notifications

VCs be out here like it’s an either-or when most savvy, in demand founders just take a check from both and make their own call options 😝
I’m just going to start sending this tweet to all the founders that ask me how to think about focused seed funds vs multi stage funds

random thoughts on human data:
human data is fundamentally bottlenecked by good SPLs
a good SPL has meticulously gone through taste training, developing an intuition for which tokens are useful and which are slop
there is no substitute for experience here, the skill only compounds with # of projects done
as a result SPLs do and should command insane pricing power, one good SPL can unlock a huge multiple of lab data spend (compared to salary/bonus)
its no surprise that data co's who have not invested time training/upleveling SPLs have stagnated while those that do are up infinite
synthetic data might take over against human data but this may actually cause a jevon's paradox + more demand for SPLs
still early imo for useful token surveyors

Quit your job if you’re not happy. They would lay you off so quick if they needed to. I talk to too many people who are so afraid of how it will look on the resume, what their boss will think - or they will leave after the completion of that big project in Q4.
They would lay your ass off so quick if they needed to. That’s just business.
There’s never anything wrong with looking out for yourself. Go and make your new employer happy. They’d be lucky to have you.

Today I'm excited to share that @usefootprint has raised a $25M Series B, bringing our total funding to $45M.
Financial institutions are in an arms race with cartels and oligarchs.
The movement of illicit money globally has grown by $1.3 trillion since 2023, now sitting at $4.4 trillion. And bad actors have taken full advantage of AI’s capabilities: generating fake identities and shell companies faster than any team can manually review.
Yet, the work to combat financial crimes is still being done the old way - risk teams sifting through spreadsheets, PDFs, and disconnected tools one case at a time.
AI lets us reimagine this sector.
We're solving for this at @usefootprint by focusing on two things: time and memory.
→ Time: Percy runs your compliance program end-to-end in 1/10th the time, so your institution has extra eyes on every case, and your human analysts dedicate their time to the ones that truly matter.
→ Memory: Trust Fabric makes sure the grey area is removed and learnings are universal so your team (whether 5 or 500 people) catches more true positives and identifies fraud rings before they form.
With this raise, we're doubling down on the thesis that risk operations will be re-envisioned for the AI-native era. As AI increases financial crime in the global economy, we're building the defense system that can expand to meet and defeat it.
We're honored @QEDInvestors doubled down on their conviction, leading our Series B two years after leading our Series A. The same goes for those who have invested since day one: @lererhippeau, @indexventures, @BoxGroup, Operator Partners, Definition, and @animalcapitalco. And for new investors @am_mufg_jp, @commercevc, @lightbank, and @alumniventures.
To the Footprint team: this company would be nowhere without your belief in building a digital world full of trust. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being on this journey with us.
To our customers: thank you for trusting us with your most important decisions. Your partnership is helping us build a better future for financial crime compliance.

Whoever made this product decision to show a pop up 100% of the time, and also to make “Continue” not actually continue the user flow - needs to be put on a performance improvement plan.
