There is no one the âanti-DEI conservativesâ fight for more than their own DEI picks.
Sey was always a DEI token for people whose main focus is life is not being labeled a racist.
Rome or Orthodoxy can have Ortlund. All the Ortlund's.
Gavin Ortlund filmed a video called âThe Dangers of Christian Nationalism.â One of his chief concerns is the loss of religious toleration, a first amendment right that Ortlund considers to be sacrosanct. This is fascinating for a number of reasons.
First of all, it reveals that Gavin has a religious devotion to the Constitution, over and above what he finds in Scripture. To be specific, it is the Constitution as viewed through the lens of 20th Century Liberalism. The founders never intended the 1A to protect demonic statues and Islamic ghettos.
Secondly, Gavin does a Jesus juke, explaining that we actually win by losing. After accusing Christian nationalists of commingling the spiritual and the political realms, he actually does that himself by encouraging Christians to accept worldly losses (and even death) in order to be more than conquerors spiritually.
Thirdly, Gavinâs a priori commitments to liberalism actually prevent him from what he says at the end, âSo let us by all means do everything we can to now bring his lordship into every aspect of life, in all the ways that we can, including the political realm.â Ortlund has already conceded that public idolatry must be tolerated! So itâs not âby all meansâ in any sense at all. It would be more accurate to say âby all means that arenât mean.â
This is very much the same loser theology promoted by Phil Johnson and others, wherein we should vote for godly candidates and laws, but just donât take it too far since we win by losing.
Of course, this is all designed to ultimately discourage Christians from political engagement, or worse to permit them to vote for the left. As Gavinâs father Ray Ortlund posted in 2024, âNever Trump. This time Harris. Always Jesus.â đ€ź

The wild thing is PCA study reports have no constitutional authority.
They are simply âreceivedâ and called âpious advice.â
After GA votes to form a study committee, the moderator appoints its membersâmeaning itâs a crapshoot.
Hence the reports vary in quality.
Here is just one of many examples of Trenham's dishonesty, lack of knowledge, and/or overstatement. I am sure @Canonandcreed and others can answer this better than myself, but I do not believe "semper reformanda" was uttered by Calvin or any of the reformers. It was made up centuries later.
Also, I have read Selderhuis's biography of Calvin that Trenham references. Calvin was not some defeated man that regretted his reforms or thought they were in vain, yet that is exactly what Trenham wants his readers to think.
This is just slander and dishonesty. It's desperation really, simply trying to paint the Reformation as an inevitable, perpetual innovation and change in doctrine and church practice, when really the Reformers were returning to Scripture and appealed strongly to the early church fathers for support and claimed continuity with them.
So part 2 by @Canonandcreed is even better than part 1. The fact that Trenham was trained at Westminster Seminary before going Orthodox means either he didn't listen/comprehend, is outright dishonest with his presentation of Reformed theology and history, or Westminster taught very poorly, which sadly I cannot rule out either. But still, Trenham shouldn't make such basic misrepresentations.

If thereâs anything Brazil has taught us over the last four years, itâs that Leftists will rig elections, call themselves defenders of democracy while theyâre doing it, hijack the courts after theyâve won, use them to convert the country into a soft dictatorship, and then arrest their political enemies, ban free speech, and attack social media platforms they canât control in order to guarantee that they never lose power ever again.
And with that power they will construct an inverted hierarchy that places troons, third worldists, criminals, drug addicts, and mentally ill lunatics at the top of the social pyramid, all while acting like theyâre fighting for equality and just being a heckinâ decent human being.

We Stand Against Feminism?
In a recent article in the New Horizons analyzing the lack of young men desiring the ministry, the author defended the masculinity of the Reformed and Presbyterian officers. He wrote, âWe stand against feminism, egalitarianism, and sinful male dominance" ("Where Are the Young Men?").
My prior article demonstrated that there is a problem in our churches, from tone-policing to attacks on biblical patriarchy. This article will dig further into the evidence, focusing on the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC).
First, in 2001 we have on record a larger number of church officers (43) protesting the majority report against women in combat. Part of the protest reads as follows:
âThe undersigned do hereby protest the declaration of the 68th General Assembly of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church that, âthe use of women in military combat is both contrary to nature and inconsistent with the Word of Godâ upon the grounds that, âThis is a ministerial declaration of what is revealed in Holy Scripture, cf. 1 Cor. 11: 14 ...â Such a position has not been adequately demonstrated from Scripture and therefore cannot be declared as the teaching of Godâs Word.â Certainly, some of the men who signed this would disagree with standard feminist and egalitarian thinking. Yet it is just as certain that women in combat is a go-to secular impulse.
Second, around the same time as the OPC combat report, Rev. Lee Ironsâ wife wrote in defense of gay marriage; he followed up with a post acknowledging his âprivate opinionâ in favor of homosexual âcivil unions.â Unlike today where feminism is divided over transgender issues, gay ârightsâ were pushed by the National Organization for Women on egalitarian grounds.
Third, in various ways, men have pushed Christian female influencers, and rarely to any lasting goodness. Aimee Byrd is an excellent example. It started with a podcast, and now she is preaching. Once she was pushed into the masculine realm of public teaching and admonitions, it was only a matter of time. This is clearly an instance of using the means, causes and occasionsâand certainly the appearances and provocationsâthat often dovetail with feminist activity or thinking.
Fourth, a last-minute motion was brought before the 2021 OPC GA to use the services of GRACE (Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment). Further examination of the major players around GRACE showed this is not just a group of Christians trying to end the crisis of sexual abuse in the church. They wanted to eradicate corporal punishment of rebellious children, ignore our Book of Church Order (BCO), and eliminate Biblical male leadership.
Fifth, in a related matter, a Presbytery in the OPC hosted Dr. Langberg in 2021 to talk about abuse in the church. She was working with (at the time) GRACE. Unfortunately, she was presented as someone reliable. In reality, she taught, âThe man is not told to rule over the woman; neither is the woman to rule over the man. They are to rule together, in a duet...â
Sixth, we have the 2022 OPC GA hastily denouncing supposed acts of racism before all the evidence was forthcoming, and after further inspection, the complaint was false. This suggested an automatic empathetic response instead of an impartial stand upon principles.
Seventh, serious accusations arose in the Presbytery of the Southeast. Their in-depth report of 2025 appeared to described OPC officers operating too close to âbelieve all womenâ mentality instead of applying proper objectivity as warranted.
Eighth, that same year an article published in the OPCâs Ordained Servant ("The Churchâs [Not So] New Fundamentalism") expressed growing concern over so-called âReformed patriarchal fundamentalism.â It also appears many are uncomfortable with the Reformed teaching on superiors, inferiors and equals.
Finally, we have Rev. Mizeâs article on Genesis 3 in the OPCâs Ordained Servant in early 2026, where he reworked the pronouncement over Eve as a Christ-and-church text, conveniently removing the fact that Eve is to submit to her husband (in the Lord). Another minister even preached a sermon about Peterâs description of the woman being the âweaker vessel.â The 1 Peter 3 passage was reinterpreted in a similar manner as a Christ-and-church metaphor.
Whether any of these facts are equally weighted towards the claim that feminism or egalitarianism has any hold in our circles, I leave for you to decide.

I know nothing about @Canonandcreed outside of part 1 here where he does an excellent job showing all the sleight of hand and misrepresentations of the Protestant Reformers from the opening sections of Orthodox Archpriest Josiah Trenham's "Rock and Sand".
I was going to do videos on this myself, but Canon and Creed doe such a good job here that it is thankfully completely unnecessary. He hits basically everything I was going to cover and then some. I have not seen Parts 2 and 3 yet and havent read those parts of Rock and Sand yet either. After I read those sections of Rock and Sand and mark it up, I will watch Parts 2 and 3 and see if they are just as good as Part 1 and report back.
But whether you are Reformed or Orthodox, you should watch this to avoid being misled by Rock and Sand, which is either shoddy work or outright dishonest framing.

Hiring a token racial minority who is less qualified than a white man is probably a more accurate definition of "sinful partiality" than Christian nationalism.
If I invited a man into my home for one meal and found he was still in my house four years later, I would say anyone who supported his expulsion from my home was an evil psychopath and not loving his neighbor well, and probably isn't even converted.
Now, when do I get paid?

Despite privately calling Samuel Sey and spending more than an hour trying to reason with him about various accusations he had levied against me and my friendsâaccusations calculated to do my family great harmâhe was obstinate in his refusal to turn from these sins.
Not only that, but the conversation demonstrated beyond doubt that he didn't even understand the most basic distinctions about the conversation into which he was confidently wadingâslinging accusations as he went.
So yes, he has wronged me. Yes, he is unrepentant of these things. I have no doubt he will continue walking in these sins and errors. And also yes, I prayed for his family this morning.
Or even better, can you have an "Indian" of American extraction?
What is an American? What is an Indian?
Replying to @JeremyDBoreing
What did our founders think about those who were of Indian extraction and their eligibility for citizenship?
Are you saying you can be of any "extraction" and yet by simply being born here you are as American as apple pie?
If I was born in India, does that make me an Indian?

I would just like to note that it was probably a hardliner who reported Sey, and the apparatus for his deportation was through ICE, which was only possible by Patriots pushing the vote in 2024. Both Hardliners and Patriots believe if Sey is here illegally, he should face justice.
