I propose we move from:
“You’re not a true Christian if you vote for ________.”
To:
“You’re not a true Christian if you don’t follow the Sermon on the Mount.”
It’s time we measured Christian faithfulness not by political allegiance but by allegiance to Jesus & his teachings.

Would you join me in praying for our Orthodox Christian brothers and sisters in n Israel. They are, and have been experiencing persecution. Pictured with me is Patriarch Theophilos III, the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem.

A nation that coerces Christianity becomes, not a Christian nation, but a place where many reject Christianity because of the coercion.

The Sermon on the Mount isn’t just about us. If it was, we might admire it as a fine bit of idealism, but we’d then return to our normal lives. It’s about Jesus himself. This was the blueprint for his own life. He asks nothing of his followers that he hasn’t faced himself. And, within his own life, we can already sense a theme that will grow larger and larger until we can’t miss it. If this is the way to show what God is really like, and if this is the pattern that Jesus himself followed exactly, Matthew is inviting us to draw the conclusion: that in Jesus we see the Emmanuel, the God-with-us person. The Sermon on the Mount isn’t just about how to behave. It’s about discovering the living God in the loving, and dying, Jesus, and learning to reflect that love ourselves into the world that needs it so badly.

“For young player, If you want to stay in the league, just look around, see whose still hanging around, see who continues to get contract after contract, see whose making $5,000,000 that shouldn’t be making $5,000,000”
