Who’s in NYC on October 3? I’m art directing this event and can invite some people. If you’re interested, send me a DM. @isa2001m will perform, there will be painting and poetry, and I’ll show a film I’m developing with the host of the party, @mnovendstern

You know, another interesting thing about the Russell Brand case is the mentality of his lawyer. There’s this phenomenon now where Gen X men, after the backlash against the woke wave, think victim blaming is acceptable again. So his lawyer starts talking about how these women didn’t come forward during MeToo, didn’t scream, kick, or struggle. Incredibly stupid, because you immediately reveal yourself as someone who doesn’t take these women seriously a priori. Whereas what’s actually interesting here is the ecstasy of the depressive narcissist who, after his heroin addiction, finds himself in another kind of ecstasy, and the ecstasy of the young woman who seeks out boundaries. That explains something about the dynamic between them, without saying anything about guilt or innocence. It’s not a legal defence, but it’s what makes the case psychologically interesting.
“At that age (21), I was myself searching for the limits. Humiliation and sex. The liberation from boredom and the humiliation of boredom itself. And someone like Brand modelled himself on that. He was that peacock. A girl like that comes to his show for precisely that reason. I can’t condemn it.” This is what the mother of my children says about it.

By turning himself into a Christian virtue puppet, with all his hypocritical bullshit about his own past, his repudiation and condemnation of it, the cheap left-wing bullshit and his constant pointing out of other people’s hypocrisy, he had already placed himself within the moral framework in which he is now being judged. He has never reflected on his need for control, for power, for humiliating women, for throwing a condom on the floor and saying: clean that up, you slut. All he has said is that promiscuity is bad in itself, but not a crime in the legal sense. So there has been no real reflection on his part. He now sits alongside the judge in the seat of his own condemnation. But when you’re such a hardcore narcissist, you can hardly become anything other than a virtue puppet. You need all that Christian nonsense to find harmony when your testosterone levels start declining and you can no longer be so hardcore. And in Russell Brand’s case, when you want to take off the mask of sanity of the 2000s celebrity and put on the mask of sanity of the 2020s Christian, and you want a family, a wife, and harmony. Russell Brand is a GREAT artist. But philosophically he is superficial and intellectually lazy. I’m curious how he will construct a new mask of sanity out of his third chapter: prison. Crime, Conversion, Then Punishment.

It’s incredible how these cases turn people into the most complacent versions of themselves. Russell Brand could spend 9 years in prison without hard evidence that he raped anyone, but you’re supposed to accept “well, he was a bit of an asshole sometimes” as some kind of nuanced and objective take on the matter

Love this scene!!! If AI can realistically create a scene like this, we have passed Turing Test 2.0. And then we will see these same idiotic emotions being projected back onto something like Musk’s attempt to do the Odyssey. And then it’s going to be an elite cultural battle to achieve that same realism with a world that no longer exists.
One of the most heartbreaking moments in X Factor history. 💔 Britney Spears recognised Don Philip, the singer she had recorded a duet with on her debut album. Seeing him years later, visibly struggling, and watching Britney fight back her emotions as she had to say no… this was genuinely difficult to watch. 😢

When shall I dance once more with bare feet the all-night dances, tossing my head for joy in the damp air, in the dew, as a running fawn might frisk for the green joy of the wide fields, free from fear of the hunt, free from the circling beaters and the nets of woven mesh and the hunters hallooing on their yelping packs? And then, hard pressed, she sprints with the quickness of wind, bounding over the marsh, leaping to frisk, leaping for joy, gay with the green of the leaves, to dance for joy in the forest, to dance where the darkness is deepest, where no man is. (Euripides, Bacchae)

#WNLOpZondag #WNL

This is like playing Mozart on MIDI. It also doesn’t work.
Here’s another clip of a woman reading Trump’s words verbatim from a recent rally in Mississippi that puts a giant magnifying glass over how gone he is cognitively and unfit he is for office.

This channel shows the extreme landscape of psychologies you find in this horrorpolis that is the infrastructure of the Holocaust. Sometimes I can’t stop watching this channel. I’m sharing one of the relatively mild accounts, by a very kind, good woman describing her experiences as a prisoner and doctor in a concentration camp. Partly, this must be vain confirmation of my misanthropy, indulging in the categorical fear I feel of other people. And it’s fascinating how that enormous death relates to your own little death, and, in one’s experience, vice versa, how this mirror engine drives your interest.
Ella Lingens, an Austrian doctor and political prisoner at Auschwitz: “They kept filling up the camp, and everyone for whom there was no room went straight into the crematorium, to the gas chambers. “What terrified me was another train coming in when we were already full. My patients lay four, three to a bed in the infirmary. There were no blankets, no sheets, no medicines, nothing at all. And the thought, ‘Now more are coming in,’ was simply terrifying. And then you were horrified at yourself, because your first thought was: ‘If only they wouldn’t come to us.’ And your second thought was: ‘Yes, but if they don’t come to us, then they’re gassed.’” On SS doctor Fritz Klein: “I said to him: ‘How can you reconcile this with your Hippocratic oath?’ And he replied: ‘Because I’ve sworn a Hippocratic oath, I cut a festering appendix out of a human body. Jews are the festering appendix in the body of Europe and must be cut out.’” Sourced from the documentary “Der Judenmord - Deutsche und Österreicher berichten” (Michel Alexandre, WDR, 1998). English captions translated from Lingens’s German, with help from @gaemsae, a native speaker who has been a huge help with this. Cut and captioned by me.

It’ like the myth of the Minotaur. Europe is King Minos, defying Poseidon, god of the sea, by subordinating its sovereignty and borders to universalist morality. The transgression produces a monster, and innocent people must pay the recurring tribute for their rulers’ defiance.

It is fascinating that his way of speaking and his demeanor are the same as with JD Vance, rely on similar assumptions about how to project your morals and they both do this annoyed nerd squint which is low class and rude. But with Vivek you get a lot of aggression on top of it that I never really feel with Vance. His body is cramped because he wants to hit the reporter.
Vivek Ramaswamy defends his ad featuring Amy Acton's estranged mother: "Politics is a tough sport. You point out where you think your opponents are flawed."
