"Can a transparent, expert-weighted model paired with Monte Carlo simulation reliably forecast Nigerian presidential elections? " Every election season, the arguments sound the same. People argue from feeling, from loyalty, and sooner or later someone says the result is already decided. I wanted something better to argue from, so I built a model that shows its working. I ran 50,000 Monte Carlo simulations of the race between Bola Tinubu (APC), Atiku Abubakar (ADC) and Peter Obi (NDC). Here’s what came out: - Tinubu wins 79 of every 100 simulated elections - Obi wins about 11 - Atiku wins about 10 - 1 in 4 runs goes to a run-off The real story is two forces pulling in opposite directions. Being the sitting president is worth about 12 points to Tinubu. The pain of prices, hardship and insecurity costs him about 11.5. They almost cancel each other out. The run-off rule matters more than most people think. To win outright, a candidate needs the most votes and at least 25% in 24 of the 37 units (36 states plus the FCT). When nobody manages that, the picture changes completely. In the simulated run-offs, Tinubu and Obi each win 37% and Atiku 26%. If the model is right about what moves the result, each camp has one lever that matters most: - Tinubu: cost of living. A credited reform dividend lifts his chance from 79% to 91% - Obi: turnout. At around 42% turnout, his chance climbs from 11% to 34% - Atiku: win the North decisively and force a run-off, which lifts him to 27% Nearly eight in ten is a strong favourite, not a certainty. A forecast isn’t a prophecy. It’s a set of assumptions one can inspect and challenge, and nothing here is an endorsement of any candidate or party. This is a living model, and I’ll keep updating it as new data comes in between now and (Jan 16 2027) polling day. Once INEC declares the official results, I’ll run a full post-election evaluation, treating the actual outcome as true out-of-sample ground truth. I’ll measure calibration with the Brier score, error on vote share at national and state level with mean absolute error, and how accurately the model called each state against the 25% threshold. If it holds up, it becomes a baseline for future elections. If it doesn’t, the errors will show exactly which assumptions need rethinking. Either way, the evaluation will be published openly. Check comment section to read the reports. #Nigeria2027 #DataScience #ElectionForecasting #MonteCarlo #Nigeria #Elections

Happy 66th Independence Day, Nigeria 🇳🇬 On 1 October 1960, Nigeria earned the right to decide its own future. Sixty-six years later, millions of Nigerians still wait 30 days to touch money they started earning on day one. Rent doesn't wait for payday. Neither do school fees, hospital bills, or the small emergencies that turn into expensive loans. Independence was never just about a flag. It's about having control over your own timeline. At Nygon Technologies, our team has been quietly building something for the Nigerian worker. Something that respects the work already done and the person who did it. We're not ready to say more just yet. But we believe every salaried worker deserves the same thing this nation fought for: the freedom to choose when, not just how. Coming soon. Happy Independence Day from all of us at Nygon Technologies. #NigeriaAt66 #IndependenceDay #FinancialInclusion #Fintech #NygonTechnologies

I convinced my team to skip the iPhone 18 and put that money into the Dangote IPO. Walked them through Bamboo and Cowrywise, we sat back and waited. Then both apps crashed. Now everybody is looking at me like I personally introduced them to CBEX.💔💔💔
Hey everyone, we’re getting a much higher than expected traffic trying to get into the Dangote IPO and it's making it difficult for some users to log into the Bamboo app. We're working on a fix and it will be up and running shortly. 💪🏽💚

Direct Application of Data Science to Politics I'm Oluseyi Gideon Olaniyi a UK trained Data Scientist. Today, I have created a system that uses Structured Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) combined with Expert-Weighted Scoring to make political predictions. Specifically, it is a linear additive weighted scoring model where each state's outcome is computed as a weighted sum of normalized sentiment scores across four criteria. This is a well established decision science technique used when ground truth training data is insufficient or unavailable, and where domain expertise must substitute for empirical optimization. I will be updating the general public on the predictions and performance of this system. Here is where we are: 5 Party National Projection (Post-NDC Split) 🟢 APC : Tinubu + Shettima (31 governors) 52% 🔵 NDC : Obi + Kwankwaso (0 governors) 25% 🟠 ADC : Atiku + Amaechi (0 governors) 14% 🔴 PDP : Residual + Makinde/Oyo 6% 🟣 APGA : Anambra only 3% What we have before Obi/Kwankwaso defected to NDC 🟢 APC : Tinubu + Shettima 51% 🟠 ADC : Main Opposition 33% 🔴 PDP : Residual 12% 🟣 APGA : Anambra 4% APC is the clear frontrunner. The split opposition means NDC and ADC combined account for approximately 38% of the national vote, but because that share is divided across two separate platforms, neither party clears the 25% threshold in enough states to mount a credible challenge alone. Current State Wins Projection 🟢 APC to win 28 states (The governor machine advantage, combined with a split opposition vote, delivers states to APC that it would otherwise have struggled to win.) 🔵 NDC to win 7 states (Near-certain lock on the South East, with additional prospects in Oyo if Makinde formally aligns, and competitive ground in the Christian swing states of Plateau and Benue.) 🟠 ADC to win 2 states (Realistically competitive only in Adamawa, where Atiku's son-of-the-soil advantage holds, and Bauchi in the North East.) 🟡 Swing : 14 states swinging (States where coordinated NDC and ADC campaigning, or a last-minute merger of opposition forces, could flip the result away from APC.) @ruffydfire @OfficialAPCNg @OfficialPDPNig @inecnigeria @ARISEtv @channelstv

We've reached the point where the government could rescue kidnapped schoolchildren and half the timeline would call it a staged PR stunt. When distrust runs this deep, no amount of good news survives it. We can do better as a country

Thank you @OgbeniDipo for this call. Let's make Nigeria great
Dear University of Ibadan (@UniIbadan), I hope this message meets you well. I have a relative who scored 289 in JAMB and already passed GCE Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Further Maths, etc. I am a bit concerned, because we have struggled to find details of your cut off marks for MBBS on your website or any reliable platform. Could you make this information public please? Many thanks. Dear Honourable Minister @DrTunjiAlausa, well done for all the excellent reforms in the last 2 years. It would be great if you are able to mandate all Universities to make their cut off marks public as done in other progressive countries. This will improve clarity and reduce corruption in the admission process. Many thanks sir! CC @NigEducation.

Our Rainbow Baby Arrived at 36 Weeks 💙 God has blessed our family with a beautiful, bouncing baby boy. We came, we saw, and by God’s grace, we conquered. Despite all the challenges, I looked good throughout the journey, all thanks to my amazing husband, whose love, care, and support never wavered. When my membranes ruptured two weeks before our baby was born, we were faced with uncertainty and fear. But God came through for us and for our precious preterm baby, who arrived safely at 36 weeks. His faithfulness carried us every step of the way. A special thank you to the wonderful Nigerian doctor who stepped in and helped save the day. May God richly bless you for your skill, dedication, and compassion. To all my midwives, you were simply amazing. Thank you for your care, encouragement, and support during one of the most important moments of our lives. May God bless each and every one of you abundantly. Our hearts are full of gratitude. Welcome to the world, our rainbow baby. You are loved beyond words and already a testimony of God’s goodness. 💙🙏🏾
