Because I have delayed processing lmao. You might get that β€˜actually I didn’t like that’ text 2 weeks later, but the idea that I can’t speak up at a later time is what prevented me from speaking up at all for years. If I don’t like it I don’t like it, and I might not want a crowd
why does nobody know how to bring something up that bothers them In The Moment When It Bothers Them. why am i getting a text abt something i said 2 days ago that you laughed at and then the conversation moved on. if it bothers you FUCKING TELL ME SO I CAN NOT BOTHER YOU

β€˜Windrush’ has become a very lazy way to describe the Caribbean community in Britain, is it as dehumanising as calling all Caribbean people Jamaican. It’s time to be specific about those you are claiming to speak about or honour.

Have you ever tried asking them to wash their hands when they have a sign like this in their room? They act like you’ve shot them
I was recently at a medical appointment where they had a sign on the wall telling patients we have the right to ask clinicians to wash their hands. This did not help me feel safer or empowered.

the thing abt β€œmen aren’t allowed to cry” is that women aren’t really allowed to either. women get mocked and berated for crying, and their momentary tears are used to justify their exclusion from β€œserious” workplaces, environments and activities

Trying to explain this people is really hard. Hurt feelings get treated like proof of a boundary violation instead of what they often are…the normal cost of two people having different needs, priorities, or capacities..
I think one consequence of how much we've popularized the language of boundaries and emotional safety is that ppl are becoming less comfortable with the fact that perfectly legitimate decisions can still hurt other people.

You’re not. Your parents were supposed to plan for that as part of their retirement and aging plans. I’m begging you, please don’t do this to your kids. Understand that there is a greater than 0 chance you will need assisted living. Maybe even dementia care. Don’t give your kids this burden.
I genuinely don’t understand how ordinary people are supposed to afford assisted living for their aging parents. Some facilities charge upwards of $10,000 A MONTH. That’s $120,000 a year just to make sure your parents are properly cared for. How is the average family supposed to afford that?

RE the Asda stuff, I’m quite surprised that a lot of people had to be told that you can just……buy things *other* than food in the Β£30 off deal loool sounds like everyone just wanted to judge the Asda shoppers immediately instead πŸ˜‚ #interesting

And people are also becoming less likely to openly express being hurt. Because even being hurt is seen as your fault, for not having or enforcing the right boundaries.

I also think we're uncomfortable w/ the possibility that suffering can fundamentally change someone w/o making them wiser, kinder, or stronger. We want trauma to produce some compensating benefit so the suffering was β€œworth it,” but unfortunately that’s not always the case
sometimes you just gotta sit with the fact that after all of the trauma you actually will never be the same and it did change you fundamentally and there’s no going back
