Go for it. Replace your habit with something healthy. Fill the void. Craig Beck on youtube has some great videos to help you along. Alcohol Lied to Me.
So my time has finally come to quit drinking - as I approach 50 I just can’t do it anymore, I love to have a few beers but at this stage, it gives me a hangover for 3 days and destroys my energy levels, makes me sooo sick I have seen so many other men who were drinkers their whole lives, suddenly lose a ton of weight in their 50s and get sober - and I knew my time was coming… and here we are Oh well it’s expensive and super unhealthy and gives you man boobs - maybe I’ll turn into one of those jacked old gray dudes who goes to bed early and wakes up at sunrise every day lol

Basing a long term relationship, marriage on sex is the dumbest shit in the world. There is more to life then busting a nut.
Men and women are ABSOLUTELY at an impasse and it’s summed up like this. Women, maybe even a majority, have at one time given a man easy access to sex in the hope it developed into something deeper. It broke her and made her feel used. The lesson she learned was don’t do that again. ESPECIALLY if it’s happened repeatedly. Men, maybe even a majority, have at one time offered courtship and commitment. Spent money, planned dates, put their all into a woman in the hopes it would develop and it didn’t. The lesson he learned from that is don’t do that again. ESPECIALLY, if it happened repeatedly. Both parties are bitter about it. Both are angry about their past and carrying that into the future.. both feel like they sacrificed more and were not given what they were “owed” a relationship. So now, many women vowed not to give easy access to sex. Men vowed not give resources in the hopes of sex. What’s the solution to this?

First hike in over two months. Right knee was diagnosed with arthritis, full report tomorrow after the MRI. So i had backed off a bit but to hell with it, grind on. Saw these two with the temps in the low 40's. Got in 8.5 miles and the trail was empty until late when the fair weather hikers started to show up. Nice day.

You have been saying that for decades. How's that working out. 🤣🤣
We need to shrink government, cut spending, and audit the Fed.

I forgot about that guy. His debate with Ox was super funny. He lied a lot and then deleted it.

Well that is just bullshit. A ketogenic diet is a high fat diet by definition. Very low carbs and protein. To achieve a ketogenic state requires this. Low carb is just that, low carb. You may or may not enter ketosis depending on your level of carbs and proteins. Definitions matter.
Keto does NOT have to mean high fat. What makes a diet ketogenic is carbohydrate restriction, not how much butter or bacon you eat. This is why I favor low carb, high protein, moderate fat for midlife metabolic health. As estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and thyroid function change with age, many people become more vulnerable to insulin resistance, visceral fat accumulation, muscle loss, and metabolic dysfunction. The goal isn’t to pour more fat into your diet. It’s to lower the carbohydrate burden, preserve muscle with adequate protein, and help restore metabolic flexibility.

Fuck no. Not our war. Not our business.
Ukrainians keep showing enormous courage in defending their country against Putin’s immoral and indeed evil efforts to conquer a neighbor. They have resisted now for four years and eight months and we should do all we can to help them.

Hang on now. Simon does lots of podcasts with people that seem like he is looking for affirmation that his diet choice will work considering his concerns over heart disease. While building an online audience. I would say both Simon and Dave are well meaning, but bring their own biases to their chosen issue.

The entire story starts with an engineer and a medical student who found a keto diet, liked how it made them feel, but didnt want to accept it may have limitations. And everything from there… reverse engineered to produce a story worthy of a documentary and building an online audience.

Using up my last cgm as i go into my diet cut. Another nasty glucose spike should take me out any minute. Oh wait, it is coming down. Healthy bodies manage glucose just fine. Low carbing for years totally biased me against carbs and glucose until i finally understood how the body fuels itself. Ted Naimans book, PE Diet was great because of all the pictures he uses to explain this. Highly recommend.

And the sad part is, they say dont do this without consulting your doc. And if you do, the odds are they will have no clue, no interest, and fight you all the way. While telling you they take TRT themselves. Total mess.
On one hand, I love seeing people take control of their health instead of relying entirely on the industrial medical complex to solve their problems. On the other hand, I’ve seen far too many people come through the clinic over the years who were running compounds on their own and had absolutely no fucking clue what they were doing. Bloodwork completely out of whack. Hormones all over the place. Side effects they didn’t understand. Some weren’t even getting bloodwork done. They watched a few YouTube videos, followed some accounts here on X, ordered a bunch of shit online and started experimenting on themselves. I’m all for taking ownership of your health. In fact, I encourage it. But there’s a big difference between being educated enough to advocate for yourself and being arrogant enough to think you know everything. Taking control of your health doesn’t mean abandoning medical supervision. It means becoming an informed participant in your own care… If there is one person I recommend it is @BowTiedHRT Been in this space for years now and I can assure you, my man knows what he doing when it comes to hormone optimization, anabolics and peptides. While this stuff is not rocket science it’s also not as simple and straightforward as many think.

Two old guys talking in the locker room this morning. One said he was 62 and planning on retiring at 65. I had him at 72-73 on how old he looked. I am 64 and feel 50. Planning to work until at least 70. I kept my mouth shut.

Our centenarian populations eat both plants and animals.
Plants are medicine. Animals are food.

Nutrition is not a religion Now that is funny. Say anything against the mantra of a diet tribe and you will bring out the diet zealots.
I’ve decided to put tonight’s newsletter right here on X for followers : I’ve spent years encouraging people to eat more animal protein, reduce their carbohydrate intake, and stop fearing foods like eggs, beef, and butter. And I stand by that advice. I’ve watched people transform their metabolic health by making those changes. I’ve seen improvements in weight, blood sugar regulation, energy, and overall well-being that simply weren’t happening when they were following conventional dietary advice. But there’s something happening in the nutrition world right now that I think deserves a closer look. In our enthusiasm for animal-based nutrition, are we forgetting what plants can do for human health? Let me explain. Long before I became known for my work in metabolic and hormonal health, I spent years studying botanical medicine. Western herbal medicine. Traditional Chinese herbal medicine. The biochemistry of naturally occurring plant compounds and their effects on human physiology. And one thing became very clear to me: Plants are not simply sources of carbohydrates, fiber, and vitamins. They are also extraordinarily complex chemical factories. They produce thousands of biologically active compounds, many of which interact with human physiology in fascinating ways. Consider a few examples. Berberine, found in plants such as barberry and goldenseal, has been studied for its effects on glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity, and cellular energy regulation. Curcumin, a compound found in turmeric, has been investigated for its influence on inflammatory signaling pathways. Sulforaphane, produced when compounds in broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables are activated, influences cellular defense pathways involved in antioxidant protection and detoxification. Quercetin, found in onions, capers, and various other plants, has been studied for its antioxidant and immune-modulating properties. And these are just a handful of examples. Some of our most important medicines were originally discovered in plants or developed from plant compounds. That should tell us something. Here’s where I differ from some of the carnivore community. I agree that animal foods provide some of the most bioavailable and nutritionally valuable protein available to humans. I agree that many people, particularly those struggling with insulin resistance and metabolic dysfunction, benefit tremendously from reducing their carbohydrate intake. And I agree that humans can survive without consuming dietary carbohydrates. But here’s where I draw a distinction. Just because carbohydrates are not essential nutrients doesn’t mean plants have no medicinal value. Those are two entirely different arguments. A plant doesn’t have to be an essential food to contain compounds capable of influencing human physiology. And we shouldn’t confuse the nutritional value of a plant with its potential medicinal properties. There’s another distinction worth making. I’m not suggesting that everyone needs to start eating large quantities of grains, legumes, fruit, or starchy vegetables. In fact, for many of the people I work with, that would be counterproductive. I’m suggesting that we recognize the difference between using plants as a major source of calories and appreciating plants as sources of biologically active compounds. Those are not the same thing. A person can follow a predominantly animal-based, low-carbohydrate diet while still benefiting from carefully selected vegetables, herbs, spices, and, when appropriate, botanical preparations. And no, that doesn’t mean everyone needs another bottle of supplements. After more than 30 years in clinical practice, here’s what I’ve learned. Nutrition is not a religion. It shouldn’t be a competition between carnivores, vegetarians, keto advocates, and everyone in between. It’s about understanding human physiology and choosing the foods and therapeutic tools that best support the individual

Think i have solved my crappy nights sleep issue. Eating too low fat. Looks like i need to be 95 gms or so or my dinner needs to be fattier, not too lean. That will be the next test. As i am currently cutting weight i just need to work out how much fat to add to dinner if i am going to be short. I eat in my hotel so this is simple to fix. These butter packs are 5 gms each so i just add these to my meal. The theory is the fat digests slower so the energy release takes longer into my sleep. Otherwise my body releases cortisol to supply the energy and i am awake. I just have to leave calorie room for them during the day.

The President signed an EO banning the import of power generation infrastructure made in countries such as China. Good luck building out power generation. The price of oil has nothing to do with power generation except in very small communities.
Gas will be under $2 There be a “substantial decrease” in electricity prices. Ok bud

The take away is any diet that causes weight loss will result in metabolic health improvements. Lose the fat. And who cares which was faster. Long term sustainability is what matters.
A new trial in Cell Metabolism found a keto diet cut liver fat by 67%, versus 45% on a Mediterranean or plant-forward diet – with weight loss matched and all food provided. So keto wins? Not so fast. The keto diet in this trial was also much higher in protein: 23% of energy versus 15% on the other two. Ketones only rose modestly. When I sat down with Dr Nicola Guess, her read was that more protein and fewer carbs were doing the heavy lifting, not ketosis. And despite 23% of energy from saturated fat, LDL and apoB changed about the same as on the other diets. But everyone was losing weight, which can mask the effect, so this study can't tell us saturated fat is fine. The practical take is a higher-protein, lower-carb Mediterranean-style plate, with olive oil, nuts, and seeds. Full conversation is EP #441– link below. Save this for later, or share it with someone navigating fatty liver or prediabetes. Study: Petersen MC et al. Cell Metabolism, 2026.
