AT WHAT POINT DO WE START TALKING ABOUT PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY?! 👀🙄 A 2026 case report published in Annals of Emergency Medicine describes the tragic death of a 42-year-old man who reportedly consumed: 💊 THREE high-potency 7-OH tablets. 🍺 SEVERAL beers. Researchers estimated that the tablets contained approximately 87 MG OF 7-OH Now, I'm going to say something that apparently shouldn't be controversial. ADULTS HAVE TO TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT THEY CHOOSE TO PUT INTO THEIR BODIES! This was an adult who reportedly made the decision to consume multiple concentrated 7-OH tablets alongside alcohol. We don't know everything about his circumstances, and losing a life is tragic. But we CAN acknowledge that the reported choices and circumstances matter. Why is the conversation immediately about banning products instead of discussing dosage, mixing substances, consumer education, and personal responsibility? Why should millions of responsible adults lose access to kratom because of incidents involving completely different products and consumption patterns? I believe in consumer safety. SARATOGA COUNTY, NEW YORK, JUST PASSED A KRATOM BAN — AND YES, NATURAL LEAF IS INCLUDED! On October 20, Saratoga County enacted Local Law No. 7, banning the commercial sale and distribution of kratom. And before anyone says this is just about 7-OH… 👀 NOPE! This ban includes: 🌿 Natural kratom leaf 🌿 Kratom powder 🌿 Kratom capsules 🌿 Extracts and synthetic products Personal possession is exempt, but businesses are prohibited from selling or distributing these products once the law takes effect. Let me get this straight. 🤔 Adults can legally possess kratom, but responsible businesses can't sell it to them? Let's talk about Senator Ed Markey and Dr. Andrew Kolodny of Brandeis University. Did you know Senator Markey helped expand access to buprenorphine treatments like Suboxone? And in 2017, Markey publicly pledged his support for Brandeis University's opioid research collaborative, co-directed by Dr. Kolodny. Now here's where things get interesting. 👀 That SAME Dr. Kolodny testified in Suffolk County in 2026 in SUPPORT of banning kratom sales, including traditional botanical products. Meanwhile, pharmaceutical companies selling buprenorphine-based addiction treatments are reporting hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue. I'm not suggesting those facts prove some secret financial arrangement. But I AM asking why we aren't having a bigger conversation about the financial interests surrounding drug policy. Prescription opioid treatment? Expand access. Traditional botanical kratom? Support banning sales. DESIGNER DRUGS AND KRATOM IN THE SAME ORDINANCE?! REALLY?! Can we PLEASE stop treating a botanical plant that's been used for generations as though it's automatically the same thing as a chemically manufactured designer drug?! And before anyone jumps in, YES, I understand there are legitimate concerns about certain adulterated products. Here's what makes this even more concerning. 👀 We still don't have confirmation of whether the proposed restrictions include all Kratom. And the outcome of the October 27 vote hasn't been verified. SO WHAT EXACTLY IS PORT RICHEY TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH? Are we targeting dangerous or mislabeled products?
