Bizarre experience at @LBofBromley. Councillors prayed to God to give them wisdom to make the right decisions. Then Colin Smith,CEO Adetosoye& @MayorofBromley0 said, who cares if we signed off your block with no fire breaks, we'll keep the £1 mil tax you've paid on flats worth £0.

LHs are sick of excuses. Another interview, another promise, another vague deadline. Meanwhile, SC soar, accountability remains elusive & LHs are still trapped in same broken system. On the ground, NOTHING HAS CHANGED. Labour dragging its feet why should LHs believe anything will
Service charges up 26% in a year. Our supporters are clinging on by their fingernails while the government retreats on its manifesto promise to end leasehold. @andyburnham talks about taking back control. So why won’t his upcoming Bill give leaseholders the Right to Manage?

Mostly dangerously defective
London's flats market in biggest downturn in 17 years; high mortgage rates, hiked stamp duty; restrictions on buy-to-let landlords. And that's before Labour's mad mansion tax

Inflation spiked in 2022, so the previous govt capped shared owners’ rent increases at 7% in 2023. Housing associations resented it. Pennycook promised he wouldn’t cap our rent increases for the next decade. Now they have "greater certainty".

How has housing been allowed to get and stay this bad?
Despite repeated reports to Peabody, Kent House stairwells remain pitch black, including designated fire escape routes. Residents have been left in darkness for days. This is a serious safety concern. How much longer must residents wait for basic repairs? @RNBlake @TeamPimlico

Microsoft just made $133.7 BILLION in net income last year. Today they announced they are getting rid of 60,000 workers. Fuck these companies man.

Cardinal Lofts (another dangerously unsafe @railpen building) mentioned at the Second Reading. A building so unsafe residents were permanently evicted and eventually bought out as they couldn't sell and move on. And yet some say they're the lucky ones...

Imagine if you stood up at work and said “You know who has one hell of a beautiful ass? It’s Carol from accounting. Stand up Carol! Show them your ass!” You’d be fired within the hour but the president gets a pass because everyone has accepted the fact that he’s a scumbag.
Trump: I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before, Nicki Minaj. That's hard to miss.

'No building and no residents will be left behind' says @AngelaRayner at the Second Reading of the building safety bill. I'm not sure those who have spent a huge amount of money/their life savings on interim costs eg insurance will come out of this not feeling left behind..

Well done to the amazing leaseholders of @NonQualifyingLH! Truly grateful for your tireless work on this. @AngelaRayner better follow through.
Some welcome news from @AngelaRayner today. Funding will be made available for collectively owned buildings, and a Govt amendment will be tabled to extend leaseholder protections from 3 to 6 properties. Positive steps we've long called for. We look forward to seeing the detail.

To be honest, all I see are high-rise blocks of flats with brick-slip external walls, and my immediate thought is: what nasty surprises could be lurking behind them? Missing cavity barriers? Faulty fire doors? Oh, and what will the service charge be in a couple of years' time?

The people who buy homes are the least important consideration, got to keep the development juggernaut moving no matter how much toxic crap it belches out.
No doubt there will now be prolonged finger pointing between developer, managing agent and building control whilst residents remain displaced, and potentially homeless. Still, at least we’ll have help to buy back soon!
