This is so damning of our ‘democracy’ and where voting demographics are luring it to go.
And I fear it’s too late now to course-correct.
We’ve let our country be screwed.
UK Parliament has mentioned Gaza more than the NHS or immigration.
In the Commons, Gaza racked up 9,228 mentions in roughly the first 10 months after the 2024 election — more than immigration/asylum (~5,700) or the NHS (~5,300).
A year on, it is still regularly debated: ceasefire, aid, arms, RAF flights, inquiries.
This is a conflict 2,000 miles away with no British troops on the ground, no UK territory at stake, and no direct threat to Britain.
Domestic problems — waiting lists, housing, borders — keep getting ignored.

« Makhal ». Je suis tombé des nues. Ils votaient likud. CAD Netanyahu. Même si, peut-être, ils s’étaient juste moqués de moi, j’ai aussitôt pensé: « putain d’apartheid, hein? »

I’m hoping the Oxford St situation might bring to a head the need to get a grip on London cyclist behaviour. Red light observance is about 25%. As a pedestrian, I am far more nervous crossing a cycle lane than a road.

For the racist little pricks who apparently need this explained: Kemi Badenoch was born in LONDON. She grew up abroad and returned to Britain at 16. She is now 46, married and a mother of three
Disagree with her policies. Challenge her arguments. That’s politics. Treating her skin colour or Nigerian heritage as grounds to question whether she belongs here is racism. Have the backbone to own what you’re doing instead of dressing it up as patriotism.
Britishness is not a whites-only club, and you miserable bigots are not its membership committee.
And any politician who panders to that poison deserves contempt, whatever party badge they wear.
She belongs here. Your racism belongs in the fucking gutter.

A day after it was revealed that the BBC paid £400,000 to Oscar-winning producer Lucie Kon for doing nothing after colleagues victimized her in the wake of October 7, it gave Green activist Ashok Kumar free rein on Politics Live to castigate a Jewish woman that her support for Jewish self-determination is antisemitic—then cut her off when she tried to respond. He gloated that the panel “looked like they were about to cry” and declared Zionism belongs in the “ugly dustbin of history” along with apartheid and Jim Crow.
This is the same odious man who, on October 7, posted that the Nova festival massacre had “consequences” for “partying on stolen land next to a concentration camp.”
The BBC not only platformed this radical activist to attack a Jewish guest but made no effort to do real journalism and correct his outrageous statements. The Beeb cannot hide its anti-Jewish/anti-Israel bias. A litigation settlement does not make a dent in their prejudicial and false reporting.
“I made too much of a noise about being a Jew inside the BBC.”
That’s what Oscar-winning producer Lucie Kon says after colleagues victimized her in the wake of October 7. The Telegraph reports that the BBC paid her £400,000 and still won’t admit it was antisemitism.
“It was like I had Jew stamped on my forehead.”
While the BBC claims it’s stamping out anti-Jewish hate, it’s slanted and biased reporting about Israel and Gaza have helped fuel some of the worst antisemitism in Britain in many years.

December 2016.
‘It is time to move beyond the re-running of the referendum arguments and accept what people voted for... change on immigration. It has to be our starting point in this debate. The status quo - full free movement - was defeated at the ballot box, so it is not an option.’
So said Snake Oil Andy "Pandy" Burnham.
Amazing how, now he has achieved his lifelong wish of becoming PM (albeit through a coup and with no mandate), he feels he can disregard things he has previously said.
It makes him look like a liar then, or a liar now.
Probably both.
Unfit to hold the office of PM.

ALL politicians should condemn racist abuse of fellow politicians regardless of whether they are friends or opponents.
The fact that Reform cult members can't understand this explains why they have plummeted in the polls and are hurtling towards irrelevancy and oblivion

Something has shifted in the polls. @reformparty_uk and the Conservative Party have now crossed over, even on the averages, and I think Reform UK's slide from here is inevitable.
I've written about the reasons before, but they bear repeating. Scandal follows them everywhere. The policy work is sloppy, and they flip-flop on the economy from right to left and back again. They call themselves the only genuine party of the right, then announce policies that read like something from @dilmabr-era Brazil - handouts dressed up as a programme. When they campaign, they lie, and on X they get community-noted so often they've racked up more notes this year than every other party combined. And they're cry-bullies: happy to misquote everyone else, but get their knickers in a twist the moment it happens to them.
The @ITV documentary on racism in the party was, honestly, a lousy piece of work. But Reform UK's response to it told you more than the film did. E.g. senior figures like @danny__kruger and Robert Jenrick wouldn't condemn racist remarks aimed at @KemiBadenoch by a Reform UK-affiliated Raheem Kassam. That matters.
Underneath all of it is something harder to pin down, but voters feel it. Reform UK is a kind of political antimatter. There's nothing positive about it - it exists purely as the anti-Tory party, a shadow that feeds on voter anger with the Conservative Party. That's why truth-telling doesn't feature in their campaigning. Lying and smearing is the only viable strategy they have, because the moment the anger fades, so do they. If Badenoch succeeds in renewing the Conservative Party - neo-Thatcherite economics, cultural patriotism, and actually persuading the voters she will deliver on a manifesto this time - there is simply no need for Reform UK. Antimatter only exists for as long as the resentment does.
And being antimatter warps you. If you believe the anger that birthed you gives you carte blanche to do whatever you like, honour and ethics stop applying. That's a futile strategy, and it tells you everything about the people behind it. They don't have Britain's interests at heart; they want power. They don't have the talent to build or govern - only to campaign, make noise, put on a show.
If you care about Britain and you're on the right, the renewed Conservative Party is the party of builders: a proper intellectual foundation, a committed and positive leader in Badenoch, and a mechanism to field the most right-wing manifesto in decades, with candidates publicly contracted to vote it through. That's the party to support.
I hear the soft, wet sound of distant plopping. Is that Jolololoyon imploding again?
