Kenneth Bass (78) and his wife lost their Malibu home in the January 2025 wildfire. They joined thousands of other plaintiffs ā including Spencer Pratt, whose own home was destroyed ā suing the City of Los Angeles, the Department of Water and Power, and others for alleged negligence, including low water pressure from an empty reservoir that hindered firefighting efforts.
Pratt, who ran for mayor largely on criticism of Bassās handling of the fire, highlighted the unlikely alliance with a quip about awkward family Thanksgivings.
