Son: Dad, was disco really as good as everyone says? Dad: Son, there was a time when a song could break your heart and make you dance at the same time. Listen to this.

I went to a book signing for Julianna Glasse today. I remember being in her and Ben Zobrist's former home, eating dinner, touring the barn-home on Trinity Hills, listening to her stories about Christian music. She didn't remember me at all. Hahahaha... *weeping noises*

Fun fact: #ForTampaBay  | President of Baseball Ops Erik Neander used to work at Sal’s Pizzeria in Main St. in Cooperstown. On my walk to work today, saw this squirrel who was enjoying a slice out front! #Postseason

That's correct! No combination of speed x angle qualifies for a barrel for Chandler And doesn't seem particularly close either baseballsavant.mlb.com/statc…
Chandler Simpson has played two MLB seasons and still hasn’t recorded a single barrel according to Baseball Savant 🤯 2025 Barrel%: 0.0% 2026 Barrel%: 0.0% Nearly 300 career hits. 90 career stolen bases. 0 career home runs. 0 career barrels.

This paper made me close my laptop and go for a walk. Stanford proved that the simple act of walking generates 60% more creative ideas than sitting. They ran four different experiments comparing people who were sitting inside, walking on a treadmill inside, walking outside, and being rolled outside in a wheelchair. the outcome? walking drastically increases "divergent thinking" (your ability to generate novel, high-quality ideas). and here is the craziest part.. it has absolutely nothing to do with "getting fresh air" or seeing nature. the researchers proved that the physical, mechanical act of walking, even staring at a blank wall on an indoor treadmill, is what actually hacks your brain and opens up the free flow of ideas. when they rolled people outside in wheelchairs to test if the environment was the trigger.. the creativity boost didn't happen. it is the physical movement that unlocks the brain. and it gets better.. you don't even need to be walking while you work. the study found that participants experienced a massive "residual creative boost" even after they sat back down at their desks. your brain essentially stays in god mode after the walk is over.. if you are stuck on a problem or an idea right now.. stop staring at your screen. your lack of ideas isn't a thinking problem. it is a movement problem. science says walking literally upgrades your hardware..

I think this is going to be an excellent change to the game. Pitchers will hate it, but we are getting too many low scoring games. Giving hitters more leeway to check a swing is a good way to offset the spin and speed advances. Much better than the idea of moving the mound back.

I’ll never pass up an opportunity to share John McPhee’s essay, “Atchafalaya: The Struggle to Maintain the Mississippi River” It is, in my estimation, one of the finest essays every written newyorker.com/magazine/1987/…

Confirms what I said last night. For those who struggle with reading comprehension. I didnt say it shouldnt have been called a strike. I said the system used in parts of MiLB this year would have ruled it a ball.
Caminero in the 9th inning of Game 1: ruled a ball Yandy to end Game 2: ruled a strike What say you @JoeyVotto : as a batter, do you like the idea of a swing needing to have the bat parallel to the foul line and beyond?

TALLADEGA NIGHTS (2006) has Ricky Bobby screaming “I am SO paralyzed!” before stabbing himself in the leg to prove it. Will Ferrell’s hospital meltdown is comedy gold. 😂
What’s a movie scene that made you laugh so hard your stomach hurt and you genuinely struggled to catch your breath? The kind of scene where even thinking about it years later still makes you laugh.

People said exactly this same thing when the Royals won.
You have to wonder if this World Series is going to bring upon a reimagining of roster building in MLB. Speed. Defense. Situational execution. The value of a single run. Been an awfully fun product to watch these first two games.

This is cinema, man. This is what is all about.
"Wildwood" took nearly 15 years to make, with 231 puppets and 136 sets, making it the longest stop motion film ever made.
