Deepak & Nuvocargo are always racing to meet the moment! Proud to be an early investor.
I'm going to be in Miami Friday speaking at the Vertical Software Summit 2025 on the Venture / AI Buyouts panel alongside @vidushanmug (Google Ventures), Andrew (Bungalow), and Nathan (Roofer). Thanks @lukesophinos for the invite and @EvanLyseng for the intro. We'll discuss transforming service businesses with AI, using M&A as a growth strategy (alongside traditional organic growth), and more. @nuvocargo has been working on these things and I'm excited to share our learnings and learn from others. If you're going to be at VSS in Miami and are interested in these topics, feel free to reach out so we can hang out.

Stunning. The 7 largest U.S. stocks reached a combined $20 trillion in market value, an unprecedented 37% of the S&P 500. That’s 55% larger than the index at its 2000 and 2007 peaks. It matches where the index first traded in April 2017 and larger than the March 2020 Covid low. The market caps are using today’s post-market, post-earnings gains in $MSFT and $META and the seven largest include $AVGO and not $TSLA. The market duly rewards success so to date hasn’t gotten it wrong. Earnings for these 7 companies at nearly $600 billion now account for 30% of the S&P’s combined $2 trillion in net income, up from less than 8% less than 15 years ago. Trading for 33.7x current earnings, the 7 have pushed the index P/E dangerously to over 27x (on margins near record highs). Capital expenditures at Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Google, Meta and Broadcom are consuming a now huge proportion of cash earned in operations, feeding Nvidia and their own internal capex. I have no idea where the inflection point is to where a surplus of capacity will destroy the ability to earn adequate income on capital deployed. Could be years from now. Could be today. Or it could be yesterday. This cycle reminds me of the late 1990s internet and fiber boom. At secular peaks Mr. Market rewards past and recent success with rich and at times obscenely high valuations. He tends to forget he’s supposed to be pricing the discounted value of all FUTURE cash flows, not what happened through today. In my 35 years managing money, I’ve never seen a market more expensive than at the moment. The market is beyond its 2000 secular peak fundamentally now by a considerable margin. The concentration of wealth in a group of 7 companies within a market as fully valued will be one for the record books. Alternatives? At the same moment we have Bitcoin treasury companies raising capital at 2x NAVs; a resurgence of SPACs, meme coins and meme stocks; and are on the cusp of private equity, venture capital and real estate poised to dump illiquid, unsalable, overvalued holdings on retail 401(k) investors. The behavior is shameful, immoral, and legal. There are plenty of cheap and attractive corners of the capital markets, but that’s not the waters most investors are fishing. What do they say, buyers beware?

A sign of the times. Stanford Professor and AI luminary Andrew Ng will now teach you vibe coding on Replit.
New short course: Vibe Coding 101 with Replit! Learn to build and host applications with an AI agent in this course, built in partnership with @Replit and taught by its President @pirroh and Head of Developer Relations @mattyp. Coding agents are changing how we write code. "Vibe coding" refers to a growing practice where you might barely look at the generated code, and instead focus on the architecture and features of your application. However, contrary to popular belief, effectively coding this way isn't done by just prompting, accepting all recommendations, and hoping for the best. It requires structuring your work, refining your prompts, and having a systematic process that lead to a more efficient and effective workflow. I code frequently using LLMs, and asking an LLM to do everything in one shot usually does not work. I'll typically take a problem, partition it into manageable modules, spend time creating prompts to specify each module, and use the model to produce the code one module at a time, and test/debug each module before moving on. A process like this is making me and many other developers faster and more efficient. In this video-only course, you’ll learn how to use Replit’s cloud environment--with an integrated code editor, package manager, and deployment tools--to build and deploy web applications. Along the way, you’ll learn strategies for working effectively with agents and improve your development skills. In detail, you’ll: - Understand principles of agentic code development such as being precise, giving agents one task at a time, making prompts specific, keeping projects tidy, starting with fresh sessions for each new feature, and how to approach debugging. - Learn how to get started with Replit, and key skills for vibe coding: Thinking, using frameworks, checkpoints, debugging, and providing context. - Create a product requirement document (PRD) and wireframe for your agent to build a prototype of a website performance analyzer. - See how to use an agent to make your prototype more visually appealing, and deploy it application others to access . - Learn to build a head-to-head national park ranking app, from a sample dataset, with voting capabilities and persistent data storage, and refine further ask the assistant to recap and explain what it built to find room for improvement and reinforce your learning. By the end of this course, you’ll have a solid foundation in building with coding agents, and a process you can use to keep vibe coding effectively. Please sign up here: deeplearning.ai/short-course…

Why am I creating a course right now? Is it because I have lots to share of value? Sure but that's not why I'm doing this... I see people all over the world looking towards web design & development as the way to improve their lives and they're all-in, you know? Is this misguided? Absolutely NOT. The beauty of web design and development is that it is open to anyone, from anywhere, and the circumstances you happen to be born into don't have to define the life you live. Add NoCode to the mix and the chances for succeeding in the creation of a better life increase dramatically. The pressure is on for the NoCode movement to deliver, and it is. Choosing @webflow as your frontend tool of choice is a good move: it's a Pro tool, if used properly, and helps you to look good, get good clients, and build great websites and web apps. Choosing @nocodebackend as your backend tool of choice is also a good move: it scales with you and will give you 99% of what you need from features to performance to security. Choosing @wizedapp as your tool for creating the glue between those other tools is smart because it's tool-agnostic and connects with any RESTful interface, has JavaScript at its core giving you full feature development flexibility, and is NoCode (possibly LowCode) focused so you can level-up more quickly than coding in JavaScript alone. So again: why am I creating a course to teach all about this? I want YOU to live your best life using modern technology to help you to get there. I want what you want and I know you can do it because I believe that anyone can do it. Believe in yourself, learn fast and aim high, OK? I'm with you...

Community is built in the replies, not the posts. Three tips for replying: 1. Promote other peoples' work, not your own 2. Every time you post, comment on three others' posts 3. Ask questions that make the poster look good (no gotcha's)

This week I learned from a sleep expert @UCLA that if we go to sleep 1-2hrs later than usual we get none (zero) of the normal in-sleep bolus of growth hormone that night, regardless if we sleep in. In other words, keeping regular to-sleep times is as important as sleep duration.
