We accept that childhood shapes the adult. The research says an investor’s first markets do much the same. They set what feels normal.
My November note, The Final Call, is about that last step.

This is the reason why I choose a broad market, low cost index fund.
One is almost guaranteed to remain in Quartile 2 over long periods of time and even Q1 sometimes but never Q3 or Q4.
Only you understand this basic concept you will never pay 1% a year to your active manager🤩

I argue a pure value approach is not a smart way to invest in Hong Kong. it comes down to incentives:
1. you have a co big enough to enter stock connect, and a mainland insurance co is a significant shareholder, might get better corporate governance.

Reclassifications and ratings mostly record changes that prices have already reflected. Before reacting to one, an investor should ask how much selling came before it, whether the underlying problem is being fixed @rustapharian

HODLer psychology. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with Alibaba. But when there are so many bulls and the stock barely budges, you know that there’s something wrong with the thesis. I feel the same way about many China e-commerce names.
$BABA is getting ready to SKYROCKET.
One day, people will look back at these prices and regret not buying Alibaba when they had the chance. The market is giving investors an opportunity that might not last forever.
Stay patient. Stay bullish. 📈🇨🇳

i think the best drama ads are the ones where people can actually see themselves in the scenario.
you’re essentially letting someone experience a version of themselves they secretly want to become.
a lifestyle, a personality trait, or a behavior they wish they had in real life.
there’s so much psychology to play with here.
you don’t need to copy whatever brand is printing right now to find winners.
i’d actually argue that’s usually the worse approach.
understand your demographic, what they aspire to do/be, how they want to be perceived, and get creative around that.
each age demographic & ethnic background has their own desires and aspirations also.
that in itself should provide you with enough creative diversity.
also, come up with the concept yourself before you start briefing AI on the script.
the idea should come from you. AI should just help you bring it to life.
i don’t think i’m the best at any of this, i’ve just spent a lot of time trying to understand what makes people tick and why they buy.
and i think that’s a big part of why my creatives have been performing so well for brands.
unfortunately I’m unable to post most of them here.

Economic Suicide:
Let private capital take risks, keep the reward or bear the losses. Forcing tax payers to pay for this is economic suicide and should be rejected.
🚨Over a dozen VCs likely to be shortlisted under Rs 1 lakh crore RDI Fund by month-end: Niti Aayog member and former DST secretary Abhay Karandikar
“I am quite confident that by the end of this month, we will be able to announce a dozen or more venture capital firms in which RDI will become a limited partner, as well as some focused research organisations such as IITs, research parks or other FROs through which the fund can be disbursed,” Karandikar said at the Indian Mobile Congress in New Delhi in an interview to Moneycontrol.
Karandikar is on the board of the RDI Fund and one of its architects.
The government has received around 163 applications from VCs and research organisations seeking to deploy RDI capital. Karandikar said the selection process has been rigorous and 20 institutions are expected to make the cut
