It was actually our 250th anniversary. Not that you would know — you spent it with the British.
Paxton: On July 4th, we celebrated the 200th anniversary of our country.

Maybe with a little humility he doesn't push any other candidate out of the race who could split Chow's vote, and he builds a more coherent and authentic coalition that could have won. Who knows? 🤷

Trying to engage honestly with the question "what more could Brad have done?" and best I can come up with: He wanted it too much. Too impatient. Never let anyone *ask* for him to be mayor, just assumed the mayor-in-waiting role immediately after Chow's election.
I don’t know what more @BradMBradford could have done. He ran an excellent campaign. He offered Toronto a clear alternative. I feel for him.

SC this is simply a turnout game at this point. TV doesn’t matter now. This race will be won or lost in these streets, at these doors and on the phones. How badly do you want this?!!! So get off the damn couch and let’s do it! Let’s vote! @scdp #WhileIBreatheIVote

Congratulations to @m_layton, Mayor @oliviachow, @DianaCMcNally, @chipadovani, @beynate, @SaraTorDan, @JoshMatlow, and all the other fantastic incoming councillors I wish I had had the time to canvass for. I’m really excited to see what we can accomplish as a city by 2030. 1/3

Congratulations also to @KevinRupasinghe and @Krissan4Scarb on your fantastic campaigns. You’ve already served Scarborough well. This election season tested all of our mettle and, at times, our humility. I feel like we came out stronger. 2/

Most of all, I’m grateful that my campaign had a chance at a second life. My team and I were able to help candidates across the city in all sorts of ways, and row in the same direction as the progressive movement that won so handily last night. 3/

I had hoped this result might end this but clearly it won't. Chow has consistently and relentlessly called out hate crime and prejudice of all kinds - especially for the Jewish community. She has upped police presence, set-up command posts, expanded police hate crime units and - notably - taken a lot of heat for backing the (likely unconstitutional) bubble-zone laws - in a good faith effort to address community concerns. And in response she's gotten abuse, ridicule, insults (often racist). She gets Ezra Levant bursting into meetings with synagogue leaders to scream insults. She gets a millionaire in a MAGA hat claiming she is a moral failure while making racist insults. And she gets completely disingenuous claims that she shouldn't speak on foreign affairs coupled with claims that her jobs requires her to March with Israel - and support Trump's invasion of Iran. She's better than I am. She still shows up - knowing that it gains her nothing. If people want to take their political cues from political opportunists like Warren Kinsella, if they want to fund political hacks who sow division for partisan advantage, than they will face rejection. But that is not a rejection of the Jewish community in this City. And I think those who claim it does are doing their community, and the whole City, a grave disservice.
My reaction to last night's result in my hometown: "A vote for Chow was, if nothing else, a vote that didn’t care about what Toronto’s Jewish community has suffered. In the overwhelming majority of cases, I suspect people never even thought about it at all."

I legit have not seen a Jagmeet Singh ad on here since this report came out.
If you're wondering who is behind those Jagmeet Singh duffel bag ads on here, know that it's part of a multi-billion dollar scam empire being run out of Eastern European call centers. It's an absolutely massive problem and Canada is a priority target. cbc.ca/news/ukraine-call-cen…

I am baffled that the smarter media types and seasoned journos don't actually stop using polling firms that continuously get it wrong before and during the election periods - but somehow 'converge' at the end, even shifting their own numbers by orders of magnitude over a matter of 1 week. 🤷🤷🤷
Replying to @NickKouvalis
I am baffled at how the polls were so far off the mark. How does this happen?

There’s actual research showing that Muslim candidates suffer a far greater electoral penalty than people from almost any other group, and 45% of Michigan voters said they wouldn’t vote for one as president. Your blinders are on
If Rogers wins the MISEN in 9 days, the pundits and the DSA-lefties will point to Islamophobia, and Rogers HAS run an Islamophobic campaign. But AES is unpopular with a wide swath of voters because he's an immature, dislikable jerk. @murphymike has hit on this, and he likes AES!

Congratulations to Mayor @oliviachow on her hard fought re-election as Mayor of Toronto this evening. Mayor Chow stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Toronto’s LGBTQ+ community at the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and early 1990s when most in society shunned our communities. That sort of principled support is never forgotten by our communities. Best wishes to the mayor and her team on this historic night. #TOVotes26 #topoli #cdnpoli 🗳️

It’s disappointing to have to say this, but @CBSNews, this is a serious failure of editorial reporting. I clearly state in this clip that while I have not personally been to Cuba, I have spoken with Cubans who have described it as a dictatorship, and I believe them. To claim I declined to answer the question is categorically false. That is not journalism. It is misinformation.

#TOpoli When Brad makes his concession speech, he is going to blame others instead of accepting personal responsibility. If Brad fails to understand that his poor track record as a councilor, constant flip flopping etc.. explains his loss then he is beyond hopeless.
