For peeps I don’t know, only admitting if you add a Li URL to your RSVP
And yes this was a real NY State agency that ultimately became @NYSERDA

At least with nuclear the costs are fully defined and up front at the project level with the system level costs more or less well known. With the wind and solar and to lesser extent batteries there is always being fooled by the lowish plant level costs but realizing even lower returns because the plants print nodally
Or being a buyer/offtaker of energy and finding out the hedge was entirely ineffective
Or being a ratepayer and getting transmission and ancillary charges on ya
Either way pick your poison. But at least there is a plausible story to tell investors until the bill comes due later.

Walked past @ezraklein in Berkeley and didn’t realize it for five blocks.
The energy policy I would have articulated to him in three sentences … world changing.
I was interviewed last weekend by Callie Patteson from the Washington Examiner about the state of nuclear energy in California and if it’s becoming a wedge issue.
I want to clarify a few things from the subsequent article and dilute the rage bait a bit.
I think my optimism was captured in the article, and for that I’m grateful.
I’m trying to never talk shit on my fellow Americans working on American energy in good faith. This is the big idea that saves the world. And I will hold the orgs I associate with to a higher standard.
So to @SierraClubCA, @DemSocialists and @Greenpeace, we need your help to get nuclear energy off the ground again in California and the world. DMs are not open, you have my email. 🧵
I maintain my position that Diablo Canyon Power Plant should be renamed someday, as it is a wonderfully valuable energy property worthy of a better name suited for extended operations with support from local SLO community and local tiłhini Tribe
