When you’re not the one responsible for teaching 28 students in a classroom every day, it’s easy to romanticize theories about inclusion, allowing students with ADHD to learn in their own way, and the supposed tyranny of classroom management. But when bottles are flying, students are screaming, and chaos erupts every two minutes--it is rules, discipline, and consequences that save the day, not beautiful theories.

THIS IS NOT ME
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's senior adviser on religious issues, Ryan Higgins, has said the “Separation of Church and State does not exist," railed against “the satanic cult of LGBTQ,” criticized gay adoption as “buying babies,” told women that "No ‘career’ will ever give you the fulfillment you’re looking for that can only be found from being a mother,” and compared abortion to the Holocaust, posting it was like “saying Nazi concentration camps were ethnic end-of-life care.” Sources say Higgins has played a role in shaping some of Hegseth's most incendiary remarks on faith and religion, and is now a key player in the newly announced Office of Religious Affairs at the Pentagon. w/ @alligordon_ cnn.com/2026/10/27/politics/…

.@JamesTalarico: Before I was ever a candidate, I was a public school teacher. I taught 6th grade language arts at Rhodes Middle School on the west side of San Antonio — one of the poorest zip codes in Texas. I saw how decisions made in the halls of power hurt human beings. At one point, I had 45 students in one classroom, and there weren't enough desks for all those kids. I remember thinking, ‘This is the wealthiest country in the world, and we've got children sitting on the air conditioning unit.’

"During his nearly seven years in office, Mr. Talarico’s name appeared on more than 500 bills. More than three-quarters of the bills he wrote with other lawmakers had at least one Republican author or sponsor." Maybe the moderate Talrico is the real one. nytimes.com/2026/10/22/us/ja…

Husbands, this is how you react when someone disrespects your wife. Your kids, grandkids, their friends, neighborhood kids, the guy at the store, the waiter at the restaurant. No one should disrespect YOUR wife. This kid may not have a strong male presence in his life, and this “walk” may change his entire trajectory in life.
My 13 year old has a friend over and I told them to please quiet down because the baby is sleeping and he (friend) told me to shut up?? My kids all froze and my son looked at him like wtf?? And my husband who was on a call in his office was like, "Joe, I need to call you back." They're now on a walk discussing respect, kid was still smirking until my husband walked out and told him to get his shoes because they were going to go have a talk. Weird afternoon.

You should be able to automatically opt out of all campaign texts at the ballot box after voting. That would definitely improve early voter turnout.

Oh and when I got my CDL I was once given a bus where the PARKING BRAKE didn’t work so I had to park it up against a curb to avoid it rolling while I coached a freshman basketball game

A military spouse was detained by ICE after she showed up to a Navy base in Texas to pick up her family’s military ID cards. Her name is Giovanna Perez. She’s lived in this country since she was six years old, has four kids, and no criminal record. Her husband, Pedro, enlisted in the Army and applied for a program built to protect the families of people in uniform. That very application appears to have been used to find her. How can we expect Americans to serve, knowing their own government might hunt down the people they love most? apple.news/AGUonOd7GQbCmtg43…

I just cast my ballot for James Talarico. As a second-generation Indian American, I am thoroughly disgusted by the xenophobia, racial resentment, and increasingly brazen attacks on my identity. My family has contributed to the American story through hard work, sacrifice, and an unwavering belief in the opportunities this nation promises. I am every bit as American as anyone else, and I will not tolerate being treated as a perpetual foreigner in the country I call home. I implore every eligible Texan to get out and vote. This election is about the kind of state and country we are prepared to defend—and the principles we refuse to surrender. @TeamTalaricoHQ @texasdemocrats

The unpaid training, from 6-10pm after teaching and coaching all day, and then 8am-4pm on a Saturday, while having to use my conference period to memorize the parts of a bus engine was when I started planning my exit from teaching/coaching.

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.
