im four beers deep and i need everyone to understand that wikipedia is the last good thing. millions of strangers agreed to write down everything for free and then argue about citations forever. no ads. no paywall. this should not exist and it does and i'm crying about it

To walk the road of peace, sometimes we need to be ready to climb the mountain of conflict. Thank you.
We asked Xavier Becerra if he identifies as a NIMBY or a YIMBY and I am still dying over his answer. Great interview by @SophiaBollag, who tried to get him to say literally anything substantive.

For the past 2 years, many people argued that Jokic deserved MVP over Shai because if you had taken Shai off the Thunder, they still would have been good, but if you took Jokic off the Nuggets, there’s nothing left. I look forward to SGA winning his 3rd MVP on these grounds.
Oklahoma City Thunder's Chet Holmgren underwent treatment Friday to address a small patellar tendon tear and is expected to return to play in 8-to-10 weeks.

Fun hypothetical: In what year will Barack Obama not be the youngest living former president?

JDub is obviously one of the great players, also seems like one of the all-time great dudes, just awful to see that injury.

Sam Baker retweeted
Anthony Davis with an unreal quote about the Wizards crowd. “I’d like it to be a little more packed in there, but the crowd was great, they were into it, got us over the hump…Even when I was here last year, very first home game. It was like ‘Dress Like a Seat Night’ in here.”

Every cycle gets a signature Trump rally bit. 2016 had the snake, 2024 had the YMCA dance, and 2026 gets Jon Husted’s ass
Trump on Jon Husted: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"

GOD it feels good to have Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the best basketball player on earth, back in my life.

Such a microcosm of our times. These two perceive themselves as enemies yet if they could simply turn down the temperature they would realize they are bound by a shared belief that the west coast is soft. Which it is. 🇺🇸🤝🐄🌆
Full audio of LeBron GOING OFF on a Knicks fan who called him soft 😭 “Ain’t nothing soft in the Midwest.” “I’m not from the West Coast, I’m from Ohio, baby. I’m an Ohio baby, f*ck is you talking about?”

DC has this, for DCA and IAD! New York doesn't, Boston doesn't, Los Angeles doesn't, Houston doesn't.
Having a train that takes you directly to the airport is genuinely one of the top 10 things a city can offer. No expensive taxis, no sitting in traffic, no begging someone to drop you off. Just get on the train and arrive at the airport. Every major city should have this.

You’re telling I can have this country’s best city (New York), 2nd-best city (DC) and 4th-best city (Philly), + Baltimore & Chesapeake crabs, + the gently rolling hills of central Kentucky, + the drama of the Badlands, and you’re asking me if I’d choose another region? lol no
You can only live & travel within one region of the United States for the rest of your life. What are you picking?

I do not think that we should accept more crashes, pedestrian injuries, and passenger assaults in order to protect largely part-time gig work, while also sending a signal that DC isn't friendly to new tech.
DC is facing a jobs crisis. Rushing the legalization of autonomous vehicles is irresponsible given the anticipated AI-related job displacement and disruptions that put countless workers at risk.

And yet the entirety of Talarico's fundraising over the course of his entire campaign is more than offset by Elon Musk's contributions to SLF this quarter.
Sen. Moreno on Talarico's $64 million fundraising quarter: "Holy crap" "I don't even know how you raise 64 million dollars in a quarter. I mean, that's a number that's mind blowing" "you do get to a point of diminishing returns, in my opinion"

Generally speaking, Maryland-tagged cars pick up roughly 40% of all traffic camera tickets in D.C., followed by Virginia-tagged cars at roughly 25%, D.C.-tagged cars around 20%, and all other states in single digits thereafter.

People are making fun of this but it’s true. In no other city, and certainly not any other city of comparable size, can you technically go out but still have it be this lame.
Only in SF can you go from - prompting agents at 6 pm - to watching tech founders sing Linkin Park at 7 pm - to a formal gala with a robot at 8 pm And still make it home by 10 pm

I have a better idea: double them.
Councilmember @RobertWhite_DC said this morning he wants to HALVE parking fines in D.C. (Will propose as an amendment to @BrianneKNadeau's strategic parking enforcement bill. But @ChmnMendelson says it isn't germane.) White: “Inflation is kicking our butts at the grocery store.”
