If physician associates are able to train in "medicine" and are magically able to see patients independently in two years - why does it take doctors 5 to 6 years medical degree and 10 years postgraduate training before achieving independence?
We have to decide whether we want a safe healthcare service delivered by fully trained doctors or go back to a free for all where anyone can practice medicine with a cursory level of knowledge/ training and do away with medical degrees / medical training
It's like living in a parallel universe where simultaneously you need over 15 years of training to be considered safe as a doctor but anyone else can do a simple course and get stuck in.
Allowing physician assistants to see undifferentiated patients would be irresponsible and poorly evidenced, says @TheBMA's Tom Dolphin
He warns that vague guidelines on supervision fail to address the safety concerns that have been repeatedly raised

It isn’t elitist to be proud to be a doctor.
Don’t allow yourself to be gaslit to an extent where you aren’t proud of your hard earned degree.
I am a Doctor.
And very proud to be one.
And if you have been to medical school- and are a doctor?
You are trained to do things others cannot.
Be proud to be who you are.

I've done a lot of dumb things in my life, but I've never uploaded photos of myself to ChatGPT and asked it to make me look like I'm from the 80s or whatever.

This is a complete, shameful lie.
Most women go through their pregnancy in this country not even seeing a doctor, instead being managed by midwives who miss major medical issues.
De-medicalisation of maternity care is why we’re in this mess of poor maternal outcomes.

everyone i know in their late 20s is having an existential crisis because we skipped our mid 20s in the pandemic. relationships fast-tracked, careers faltered, we lost those core identity-building years and now we feel like 23-year-old brains in bodies approaching 30

Nope. Women are generally hypergamous and tend to date/marry upwards. Female doctors sit at the pinnacle of the intellectual pyramid, and the pool of men at or above that is quite small.
It's either fellow doctors, engineers/lawyers/b/men doing quite well financially, or none.

Major cheat code for life: Be fully where your feet are. When you're at work, work. When you're with family, be with family. When you're resting, rest. Most people are physically present and mentally everywhere else.
we live on a planet where trees warn each other of danger through a fungal network. Where octopuses dream.
Where elephants return to the bones of the deceased and stand over them in silence. Where bees use dance to communicate where to fly and where the flower is.
Where crows remember the faces of people who were cruel to them and pass this memory to their children.
Where ants build cities. Where cats purr at a frequency that accelerates the healing of bones.
Where, after a forest fire, the first thing the earth does is grow flowers.

The NHS is bloated with employees who are neither capable nor willing to make competent clinical decisioms. The institution which exists solely to attend to patients is paralysed and leeching money to superfluous staff, at expense of those who can deliver competent healthcare.

Hate to break it to you guys but sometimes you have to do things you don’t like for the sake of having a community. Avoiding consistency with the people in your life is working against us and the data already shows it. If you think connections can be sustained on absence carry on

i regret to inform you that personal growth rarely comes from acquiring new knowledge and almost always from:
- getting humiliated
- showing up terrified and doing it anyway
- admitting you might be the problem
