Great thought piece on the Postgres 19 release delays. AI is getting really good at finding bugs, but someone still has to review and fix them all
Kinda makes me wonder how AI is going to keep reshaping open source maintenance in Postgres over time
Postgres 19 is late. @robertmhaas, one of the Postgres committers on our team, explains why: LLMs are finding bugs faster than they can be fixed, including in older releases, and that extra work eats into v19 review time

Yeah, definitely. PG already encourages reproducible test cases in its bug reporting guidelines, and there are examples of LLM-generated reproducers on pgsql-hackers.
I think that helps a lot with triage, but there’s still the human work of validating the issue and reviewing the fix.

Such a great turnout for Seattle Systems tonight! 🫶
Kevin Burns demoed a new open-source AI repo showing how to build agentic workflows with classifiers, local agents, and other components. We also got a look at OpenOx, a self-evolving mobile app that builds integrations on the fly.
Huge thanks to @Uber for sponsoring, our speakers, and everyone who came out! 💚

Agent driven apps, infra as code, and how to dress better all in under 6 minutes.
Thanks @WorkOS for the opportunity to speak. init() was an incredible event.
One neon.ts file declares the functions, buckets, AI gateway, and Postgres behind an AI stylist app. @ant_giuliano from @databricks demoed it live at init(). Full recap: workos.com/blog/init-demo-re…

The Databricks Lakebase team is at PostgreSQL Conference Europe 2026 in Valencia from 20–23 October. Check out our speakers’ session schedules, and stop by booth 7 to meet the team! 🐘
Don’t forget to RSVP this week!
Two talks worth checking out if you’re in Seattle on 10/22 and interested in AI and workflows!
🤖 Kevin Burns will explore when to use LLMs, decision models, or deterministic code in production AI workflows, with examples from Cadence.
📱 Zi Zhu will share how he built OpenOx, an open-source mobile app that creates integrations on the fly and adapts to new services.
Come hang out with the Seattle tech community and learn something new!

they also slam on their breaks randomly when there’s no cars in front of them to ram into 🙂

This is the launch of the year for me.
The best UX on the web have always been realtime (Notion, Linear, Google Docs) but realtime has never made it into the mainstream.
Today, we're launching Neon Realtime - built by the team behind ElectricSQL.
With a single toggle in the Console, CLI, or MCP, you can enable realtime for your Neon Postgres database. It works with Server-Side Rendering (Next.js, TanStack Start), Drizzle ORM, TanStack DB, and, of course, Postgres.
Why am I so excited for this? Agents, of course. The web has never been more mutliplayer than today.
If you expose an MCP server or run your custom agents in the background making changes on your data, your apps and dashboard should show the agent changes in real time.
This was never easy to build without significantly altering your tech stack.
Adding realtime to your Neon Postgres-based apps is now straightforward, without any massive code migrations.
Keep using Postgres. Keep using Drizzle. Keep using SSR. And with TanStack DB, you won't even need any Neon-specific SDKs (just a tiny adapter).
So stoked for this! ⚡️⚡️
