Well I’d like to see how the interests of capital could possibly assert themselves through THIS unhinged set of actors!

Ah! Well. Nevertheless,

OK, I'll bite. If John Cassavetes is so insanely influential and brilliant, why have I not heard about him until recently?
I've been on a side-quest with classic and esoteric movies, mostly through the Criterion collection. I've watched dozens of Criterion closet picks from filmmakers and actors I admire.
They pick Cassavetes films ALL THE TIME. Probably more than any other director except Scorsese. I haven't seen a single Cassavetes film. I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about a Cassavetes film outside of those videos.
I'm not a slouch on film, I've got a pretty wide spread on what I've seen & what I appreciate. How has Cassavetes slipped through that net so completely for so long?
correct, we should start with galois groups in 7th grade and then at a graduate level introduce polynomials as elements of their representation theory.

First unit distance fell, and that was great
Cause we love proofs as well as progress.
Then cycle double cover, that's okay:
It's only graph theory anyway.

The Levent got JC3, but don't you grieve:
There's still a salary to receive.
Non-sofic groups arrived, but have no fears:
They can't replace us for at least Five 🖐️ years.
Who's next?
Claude slopped out a zeta bound and we said:
"It ain't RH! Go to bed!"
Then FLT got autoformalized within Lean
Just another clerical work by the machine.
Who's next?
Then Tristan got Euler, but we all knew
That was Anthropic's internal compute
Bubeck's 🐪 gonna 🐪 get N-S 🐪 too 🐪
Just to dunk on You Know Who!

But just in case, we better condemn!"

Happy anniversary to The Times They Are a-Changin', the truly cursed Bob Dylan Broadway musical that opened on this date in 2006 (and closed a couple weeks later). For "Like a Rolling Stone," they had the whole cast—wait for it—roll around on stones.

Can't a novel be about a guy trying to improve his position in an intensely stratified society without everyone saying it's about class?

I was invited to panel w/Zizek a few y ago. So I read 2 of his books & couldn't figure out what it was abt, so I declined. I now bitterly regret missing the occasion as I attended one of his lectures and althought I still understood nothing I found him playfull & mesmerizing.

I have just published a piece that is very important to me. It's about why so many "progressives" and people on "the left" are lying to us right now about crime, safety, and repression, and what we should be doing instead. equalityalec.substack.com/p/…
