FLASHBACK: A fall 2016 profile from the local Twin Cities City Pages publication referred to Rep. Omar's father as "Nur Said Elmi Mohamed," before later changing it. Per @realDSteinberg, classmates of "Ahmed N. Elmi," a graduate of high school in St. Paul, MN in 2003, claim he lived with the man identified as Ilhan Omar's father. Leila Nur Said Elmi, the only such Elmi in the UK per Steinberg -- and Ahmed Nur Said Elmi's likely caretaker there when he was a child, lists "Nur Said Elmi" on her marriage certificate. Ilhan Omar's father was friends with her on Facebook. Deleted pictures on social media put Ilhan Omar alongside what appears to be Leila Elmi, and Ilhan's father, in 2011 in Kenya. Ilhan Omar appeared next to Leila in 2015 in London, in a photograph with text superimposed over it reading "I heart my sisters," with hashtags #sisterhood and #londontrip in the caption. A Leila Elmi appears to have accompanied Ilhan Omar on a trip to Washington, D.C. in Dec. 2016 during a visit in which Omar claimed she was harassed by a cabbie while traveling with her "sister." In 2013, Ilhan Omar wished "Nur Said" a happy Father's Day, only to delete it in Sept. 2019. That same year, Omar celebrated the formation of Jubaland, a Somali state. Also that year, the congresswoman's brother-in-law, and a "Nur Said Elmi Mohamed," signed an open letter from the St. Anthony, Minnesota-based Jubaland Foundation regarding the formation of the state. Somali naming convention says that if Nur Said Elmi Mohamed was the father, his children's names would end in "Nur Said Elmi." So if he he had a son named Ahmed, Ahmed's full name would be Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. If he had a daughter named Ilhan, her name would be Ilhan Nur Said Elmi. Make of all that what you will in light of how the federal government refers to Omar as "Ilhan Nur Said Elmi." The WaPo recently revealed in passing that the feds were dubious of Ilhan Omar's marriage to her alleged brother. We know this because WaPo reported that the alleged Brother-Husband filed a petition with immigration authorities to change the status on his marriage-based green card from conditional to permanent. That petition requires spouses to jointly demonstrate with a raft of supportive personal and financial records, and sworn affidavits, that the marriage was legitimate and "not for the purpose of circumventing immigration laws." When the feds presented the alleged Brother-Husband with follow-up questions over the petition, he withdrew it and fled the country. That petition was almost certainly jointly filed with Omar, with both she and the alleged Brother-Husband, each attesting under penalty of perjury that the petition and supporting documents were "complete, true, and correct." I obtained records indicating that among other things, her counsel was likely looking for the very petition she would have filled out with the alleged Brother-Husband.
