So. We live in a multi-ethnic country. The ethnicities include Yoruba, Jewish and [those pale-skinned gentiles who have no family memory of immigration to England]. What's the right word for the last category? My theory is that we have no good word. I'll try to explain.
The wilful obtuseness of comments like this is very tiresome. Rishi Sunak is English by nationality but not by ethnicity. Everyone understands this in the real world. What word does Cohen think an English-by-nationality Indian would use to describe English people? English!

For 35 years, Chinese leaders have tried to erase all memory of the Tiananmen protests and the brutal massacre that crushed them. Last week I found a file of photos I took in Beijing in 1989, most of which I haven't seen since. I will post some now to commemorate those times.

It’s my first ever week as Duty Bishop, reading prayers at the start of each day’s sitting in the Lords. I’ve been to various meetings with ministers. All trying to serve their country in challenging times. Every one has now resigned. Will they ever let me do another duty week?

This thread contains strong language, but is worth reading until the end if you care about the UK. It could very easily have been me on that station: nitter.gq/jamesgleave1/status/10…

2 American friends were traveling in Xinjiang this month and asked me to share some photos and observations in a thread. They came away shocked at the level of militarization. As tourists they moved around freely in a way that's become tougher for journalists to do.

Hi, @BBCPM, the 5pm news summary said that Mr Kim Yong Chol is the "Vice Chairman of North Korea". Mr Trump wrote this, but is wrong. Mr Kim is only the Vice Chairman of the United Front Work Department: nitter.gq/Joshua_Pollack/status/…

The signs around Whitehall about the 53/453 diversion are inaccurate/unhelpful, @TfL. This sign at Horse Guards says buses aren't stopping there, but they are. The sign on Parliament St lists 5 streets used for the diversion, but fails to mention that none of them have stops.

Hi, @TfLBusAlerts, is this your area of responsibility? It would be helpful if these signs could be corrected. The Parliament St sign explains where drivers should go, but not where passengers should... 😕
