This is a dangerous trend:
Celebrating social media as the real agent of democratic struggles; and using social media to amplify that framing.
Let’s look at it from another angle: Would all this skillful use of social media have this big of an effect 1) if Lula were not already associated with the successful welfare programs of the 20002; 2) if PT, PSOL, the unions, and other mass movements did not have decades of organizational capacity and networks to translate these social media posts to power in the streets; and 3) if the government had not made promises regarding wages and working hours right after the disastrous first round?
I worry that this framing will have a negative effect on struggles throughout the world. Many people will think that they can win against fascism just through social media campaigns, without putting decades of work into mass organization and class-conscious policymaking. They will think that AI dances of aloof leaders will accomplish as much. We should NEVER let capital obscure the fact that it is a worker who has paid MATERIAL prices throughout his life and secured MATERIAL gains for tens of millions of people whose digital dance created this affect. (And thanks to the stupid wing of capital, represented by the Bolsonaro family, for reminding us of how Lula lost his finger).
Even in Brazil, this framing could have the deleterious result of reinforcing Lula’s/PT’s shift to the center: govern like a centrist party, then throw a good social media campaign plus a couple of promises that you should have already delivered years ago, and you’ll win! Well… That approach will allow even Brazil’s relatively weak far right to take over more of the congress and other centers of power.
Smart use of social media is a must. But it is not replacement for mass organization, good policy, and ultimately changing property relations. If we allow the top brackets to further monopolize wealth, our social media victories will be but a glitch.
Writing this to honor my flesh-and-blood friends in Brazil who occupied the streets EVERY DAY in the last three weeks to topple the wannabe dictator.

3. Telegram
Bot

Let’s go through the peace deals Zelenskyy rejected.
• Istanbul agreement, 2022
Ukraine needed to refuse NATO accession, reduce the army, Russia would withdraw from the Kyiv reg., possibly from the Kharkiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions. At that point the scale of destruction was still limited and the number of dead was far lower. In April 2022 Zelenskyy declined the deal.
• End of 2022
Russian forces withdrew from part of the Kherson region. Zelenskyy traveled to meet Biden and, acc. to my sources, later confirmed by Mr. Blinken in the New York Times, persuaded the WH to continue the war. The precise terms of any proposed deal remain unknown, but sources indicate there was readiness to declare at least a ceasefire.
• Beginning of 2023
Through unofficial channels between the United States and Russia, an understanding took shape: Putin agreed to withdraw to the borders that existed before the full-scale invasion—freeing nearly everything conquered that year—in exchange for Ukraine’s refusal of NATO accession and recognition of Crimea as Russian. Zelenskyy and Yermak refused. Since then nearly a million people have been killed or wounded, several million have become refugees, parts of the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions have been occupied, more of Zaporizhzhia has been taken, Kherson lies in ruins, the Chernihiv and Sumy regions face constant shelling, Kyiv itself has become almost a front-line city, the energy system has been destroyed, businesses cannot operate, exports have stalled, and the country is degrading.
• July 2024
An arrangement that began with an energy ceasefire, modeled on the Istanbul understandings and mediated through the Middle East. While negotiations were under way, Zelenskyy also planned the Kursk operation, which ultimately disrupted all the arrangements.
• March 2025
After the Oval Office clash between Trump and Zelenskyy, European leaders gathered in London in early March. The British government stated that a number of options were on the table and that Ukraine had to choose. As always, nothing came of it.
Whether Putin was prepared each time to implement any agreements remains unknown, yet on several occasions he carried out what he had promised. Does this remove his responsibility for the deaths, the horrors, and the destruction in Ukraine? No.
But the country is degrading, the state apparatus is degrading, and corruption finishes what Putin’s missiles, drones, and bombs did not destroy. Inhumanity has effectively become a state strategy and a national ideology promoted at every turn.
Ukraine simply cannot win this way—there are neither economic, nor demographic, nor any other grounds for it. Therefore, if Zelenskyy does not agree to a deal with realistic terms now, Ukraine will be forced to capitulate. And that is deeply alarming, because it can actually cost the country its independence and sovereignty.

Nearly 80% of the Palestinian hostages held at Apartheid Israel’s Nafha prison have scabies, with almost no medicine given.
“I was released today after about four and a half months of detention.” Dr. Mazen al-Rantisi, a 71-year-old physician from Ramallah known across the West Bank as “the doctor of the poor,” speaks with a fresh wound on his face, inflicted half an hour before his release on October 25, 2026. He says a jailer dragged him to the release room handcuffed behind his back, shackled at the legs and blindfolded, then shoved and kicked him to the ground. Israeli occupation forces seized al-Rantisi from his home in the al-Tireh neighbourhood of Ramallah in June without announcing any reason, and his daughter says he lost around 25 kilograms in their prisons.
He describes Nafha prison as overrun with scabies, affecting nearly 80 percent of the Palestinian hostages held there, with almost no medicine given. When prisoners beg the passing nurse for treatment, he says, they are cursed at, mocked and ridiculed, and he was taunted for taking the chronic medication a court had ordered he receive. He calls on international human rights organisations to intervene, saying Palestinian hostages are beaten and punished at the whim of their jailers with no oversight or accountability.

Esta é a foto que está estampando a vitória de Lula nos principais jornais do mundo (vi no The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian e no The Times).

Lubna Speitan, author of the Greens4Palestine motion “Zionism is racism”, spells out the central obscenity of our age – the grotesque inversion whereby the victims of ethnic cleansing, Apartheid and genocide must constantly fend off accusations from their tormentors that it is they who are the racists.
“We as Palestinians are being silenced and gaslit and vilified [as we] witness the annihilation, the cold-blooded murder of our families, of our people… our children burnt with phosphorus, having to endure amputations with no anaesthetic, having their limbs torn and shredded, their bodies burnt by phosphorus, being starved to death … And to have to sit here … and try to bury my feelings so I can eloquently and diplomatically shield my anger, my rage, my anguish that every Palestinian is feeling, is an insult.” /1
