Bobby Benton is a trainer of world champions (O'Shaquie Foster, Regis Prograis). Yet despite success, he toils in relative anonymity in the sport. Although quiet and unassuming, he's not one to be underestimated.
My column (link in bio):
RIP Tom Skerritt. Always a solid actor. Anyone remember that nasty piece of work he was in with Drew Barrymore, Poison Ivy? Let’s just say that wouldn’t get made today. Loved the trashy Big Bad Mama with Angie Dickinson too.
Look at Thurman finessing another nice payday. And good for him! Fighting Fundora and Ortiz back-to-back is a choice. And one not for the faint of heart!
What an unexpected and excellent turn of events. Few would have predicted this 15 years ago.
Good news in the book industry:
-Sales of print books have increased nearly 25% from a decade ago
-Number of independent bookstores in the US has increased 75% since 2020
-Global book market is expected to grow 5% annually for the next several years

Yamanaka and Wilfredo Vazquez were new picks for me. What put me over the top were Yamanaka's dominance as champ and almost all of his opponents were or would be a champ at one point. I also liked Vazquez's long duration of being a top-fighter in the sport with strong wins.
They are lighting much of their budget on fire anyway. So I don’t see the point of this argument. THIS TAKES AWAY MORE MEDIOCRE SHOWS!! If they can secure good fights for him, good for them.

I'm DONE with Las Vegas as a boxing destination unless there's an actual fight I'm coming here to see in person.
I'll tell you why.
This city calls itself the fight capital of the world, but you would hardly know it unless that specific fight card is in town.
First, you can't even use their betting apps without showing up in person to verify your account. You jump through all these hoops and what's waiting for you on the other side? Betting apps that look like they were designed when Mike Tyson still had a head full of hair.
But that’s not even the half of it. I'm trying to watch Dubois vs Wardley II, a MAJOR heavyweight card - I go to MGM - Nothing. Caesars - Nothing. THREE different bars. NOTHING!
And then some guy at @CaesarsSports has the nerve to tell me showing the fight would be too expensive because of the PPV fees. TOO EXPENSIVE?! FOR A SPORTSBOOK IN LAS VEGAS?!
Dawg, you've got people walking through that casino losing the price of a PPV every time they pull a slot machine lever and you're telling me you can't afford to put a heavyweight championship fight on a television?!
That's like walking into a steakhouse and being told they don't serve meat because the cows got too expensive.
I came here thinking I'd be surrounded by boxing. The atmosphere, the history, the excitement. This is the city where some of the greatest fights in history took place.
Instead, I'm walking from one establishment to another like a man looking for a glass of water in the desert.
And you wanna know where I ended up watching the card? IN MY DAMN rental!
Sitting in a parking garage at the Cosmopolitan, watching a heavyweight boxing card on my phone!
Think about the absurdity of that for a second. I'm in the fight capital of the world, surrounded by billion-dollar casinos and giant television screens and the best seat I can find for a boxing match is behind my own steering wheel 😂🤦🏻♂️
Las Vegas, you've got the history and reputation. But a reputation isn't worth a damn thing if you can't deliver the experience that built it.
Next time, I'll watch from home.
At least there, the sportsbook works, the fight's on and I don't have to sit in a parking garage to enjoy it.

Fabio Wardley is still a huge success story. Turned pro with the expectation of an Area Title being an achievement. Has won English, British, Commonwealth, and World Titles. Has headlined multiple PPVs and his home stadium. Also made a truck load of money. Amazing
That’s it. TKO 2 for Dubois. He was licking his lips every time Wardley threw so he could counter with hard right hands. Easy work tonight. Many rightly questioned Wardley’s decision to take the rematch. I’m sure the money is nice, but at what cost? That was a vicious beating.
