When it comes to content creators and usage rights:
If you are going to charge usage rights, FINE! But if you are listing your base rate, plus usage percentage rate, plus perpetuity rates, I’m already overwhelmed and moving on. 😅
The best thing you can do is to just provide the total cost without the breakdown.
I’ve had to turn some good creators away for agency clients because of the astronomical rates for usage rights.

HMRC sees free product as payment in kind, meaning we pay tax on the item’s value. So if you accept a £100 serum as “payment,” you could owe tax on that — with no actual money earned.

X is an echo chamber. If your audience thinks UGC doesn’t work, it’s probably because they’re hiring cheap and expecting premium results.
No experienced marketer would seriously say, “99% of creators are trash.” That’s not strategy — that’s projection.
UGC is an ad format, not a personality trait. Saying “UGC doesn’t work” is like saying “statics don’t work” or “GIFs are dead.” It’s lazy thinking.
Execution matters. Briefs matter. Budget matters. Talent matters.
If your UGC isn’t converting, don’t blame the format — look at the inputs.

I think we will see a major shift in the DTC ad space since everyone knows what an ad looks like.
BUT, the usual formula will still apply. For example, i'm testing more skit style, organic hooks with clients then getting into the ad.
Switch it up! audiences know what UGC is, so make them feel like they are hearing a story or seeing a reaction at the start.
