Spaulding's my teddy bear. I sometimes talk for him and his family, and sometimes for me. Zombie fighters and their (conservative) Typist. #ZSHQ

When I was a boy, my mother told me to never forget these words. More than 50 years later, clearly I haven't: "There isn't anything that comes out of the mouth of a drunk that wasn't there in the first place." We were at a family reunion, and an uncle had consumed too much alcohol and began saying sexually perverse things. Knowing the excuses that would follow, my mom took the opportunity to disciple us with street-level theology by sharing what the Lord said: "The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45, ESV) This may be difficult to accept, and it will require a humble and honest examination: You and I are more like my uncle than unlike him. Maybe we have a little more decency and don't get drunk and speak perversion in public, but we do share three things in common: Our hearts are not completely free from evil We speak evil more regularly than we think We blame that evil speech on outside triggers (annoying people, stressful situations, alcoholic beverages, etc) Have you ever said, "I didn't mean what I said" after realizing you said something ungodly? The more biblical response would be to say, "Please forgive me for saying what I meant!" You see, if we are going to understand our trouble with words and find a solution, we must begin with the heart. What we say with our loose lips reveals what we desire with our sinful hearts. James 4:1 summarizes it best: "What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you?" Friends, it would be much easier to pick up a book entitled "101 Ways To Fix Your Talk," filled with strategies and techniques to help select and implement the right vocabulary. But that wouldn't solve any root issues. That's why God wrote a better Book. It's the only Book that provides ultimate hope and lasting change. James says in this book, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil ... Purify your hearts." (4:7-8) The gospel promises nothing less than a new heart, one that is no longer enslaved to the passions and desires of the sinful nature. And with that new heart comes good treasure, from which better words come.

Spaulding hauled the bay bush to the grow-light in for the winter. Now the Garden Family has something to take care of while relaxing until next spring. #TeddyBearGarden

Teddy brought in the Polka Dot plants. They prefer partial shade, so they will live on the table near the west-facing window behind the aloes. #TeddyBearGarden

We're bringing in the tender perennials. We brought in something extra when we brought in the Haworthia. We're worried our house doesn't have enough bugs for this spider to eat. (Haven't seen the spider, so hoping he found a better place to live.) #TeddyBearGarden

This one hurts. Walter was a kind, humble and loving man…and a friend. He will be missed by so many. My dad is joined with his friend in heaven.

In August, Sammy the Squirrel ate the outer flowers on our original black-eyed-Susans. He's checking the inner flowers blooming, and threatening to eat them unless we give him lots of nuts. Can't win. He'd just dig holes in our containers to hide his nuts. #TeddyBearGarden

It takes 2-3 weeks for the herbs to dry for bottling. They stick to fur, so Typist pulls off the leaves and flowers while watching TV. First picture is a night's worth of thyme. Second is before she starts oregano. She crushes them with her palms. 3 bottles. #TeddyBearGarden

Last night, journalist @BrandiKruse was forcibly removed from a Portland Thorns game simply for wearing an @xx_xyathletics shirt that affirms women’s sports are for biological females. She and others were assaulted by fans. Security removed the women standing for fairness — not the people attacking them. This is what it looks like when you stand up for girls. “There is nothing I would not do for those girls. I will tell their stories. I will hold the powerful accountable. I will be a thorn in the side of the radical left. There is no amount of hate, lawfare, or violence that will deviate me from this mission.” Ask yourself what price you would pay for your daughters? For fairness? For truth? For freedom? The answer should always the same: there is no price too high. #SaveWomensSports #XXXY #ProtectGirlsSports #TitleIX

Part 3: Phil brought Dr. Phillies Gnome to glue Eagles Gnomes leg back, and then talk to him about coming in for the year. Phil gave them some privacy. (And smelled the butterfly bush flowers.) When he came back, all the Garden Family were going in with him. #TeddyBearGarden

Part 2: The three gnomes stuck with Eagles because he would not relinquish his duty. Since he broke his leg when a squirrel accidentally knocked him down, no Garden Family would leave him. So Ding brought Uncle Phil the G. Family Wrangler to bring to help. #TeddyBearGarden

Help! Our Typist was left alone for a minute, and she's gone and deleted our Zombie Squad Members from above. (We only have "For you" and "Following" above now. Anyone know how we can get our zombie fighters back?

Part 1: Something about Eagles Gnome niggled in the back of Ding's mind since he harvested oregano. Even after they found Eagles under the oregano. Ding visited him again. Sleepy, Pointy, and Welcome Gnomes were with him. Eagles Gnome broke his leg. #TeddyBearGarden
