the iconic cover of the geto boys’ 1991 album “we can’t be stopped” features bushwick bill being wheeled through a hospital after surviving a gunshot wound that left him without his right eye.
the incident happened after bill had taken pcp and drank everclear, leading to a violent argument with his girlfriend. during the confrontation, he reportedly urged her to shoot him, and she did.
years later, bushwick bill said he regretted using the photo as the album cover, explaining that it immortalized one of the darkest and most painful moments of his life.

Germans actually voting for the AfD is some scary ass shit. I remember when I got to Germany over a decade ago, hearing the hatred and racist rhetoric the AfD spewed, but no one thought they would gain power anywhere in the country. Disgusting.

RIP Keith Caesar aka Keith Keith (Funky 4 + 1). legend and pioneer. they were doing it in the parks and spots like the T-Connection before most people even knew what this shit was. first hip-hop group to sign a record deal (Enjoy Records, 1979). Sha-Rock was the first woman MC in a prominent hip-hop group. first hip-hop group to perform live on national TV (Valentine’s Day 1981, Saturday Night Live). helped push hip-hop out the Bronx and into the mainstream. the culture remembers the ones who built it.
