Possibly maybe a lot of squirrels in a trenchcoat, but all the squirrels are uncomfortably verbose and prone to infodumping. Alt is @socscisciuridae.

Some days I think I went into anthropology due to the fact that my main question about people is "why (the fuck) are you like this??" it's just that the tone of the question changes when you have theoretical and methodological training.

There isn’t really any substance here.

That Reddit account is associated with some wild things. This is not even a standard “dead bedroom”; they never had at any point typical intimacy due to medical issues. He made this choice from day one and now he’s punishing her for it.

I don’t think you mean to, but this is a straw man. It’s not either/or. There’s ways to intervene and handle this that do not potentially make the problem worse. There’s coming to your daughter with loving concern and finding them strong MH support without eroding trust.

It’s not “she gets mad a bit”. It’s she starts being more secretive, hiding these things more, becomes more resistant to interventions, etc. This is not a situation where you can brute force someone to do what you want, regardless of what’s in their best interest.

1 in 3 tradeswomen have faced sexual assault in their work, but sure it’s simply that women suck at manual labor.

He did! He spammed replies and told me that I wasn’t allowed to diagnose and I should understand this… because I said that men who can only feel loved with frequent sex are higher in authoritarianism. Like, bro, last I checked interpersonal authoritarianism wasn’t in the DSM-5.

Truly. I had what I thought was a civil conversation yesterday until the guy crashed out and blocked me.

I think it would be at least theoretically permissible under Thomas Aquinas, who looked at Aristotle and said, “Hey guys it’s okay, he’s a proto-Christian. He would’ve totes been a Christian if Christianity existed then.”

She does need help, but it needs to be handled very delicately to avoid making the problem worse. The worst thing at this point would be to destroy her sense of trust in talking to her parents, and handling the phone issue wrong will undoubtedly do that.

Fascinating. One of the comments I saw on a TTC subreddit was written from a woman’s perspective and implied they couldn’t ever have “standard” intimacy to begin with. This whole situation is incredibly odd.
