The guy who kept Shaq and Charles Barkley in line on TV for 37 years used to spend his mornings shaving and dressing his son, who could barely move and breathed through a ventilator. Then he'd go to work and laugh with those guys all night like nothing was going on. Tonight Ernie Johnson said this season will be his last, and Barkley tried to thank him on air and couldn't get the words out. I don't think most people watching that clip know what Ernie was carrying all those years. He and his wife Cheryl adopted Michael from an orphanage outside Bucharest in 1991, when he was 3. He had Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and doctors didn't think he'd make it to his 20s. He lived to 33. When Ernie was home, getting Michael ready in the morning could take an hour and a half, and Ernie did the showering and shaving and dressing himself. In 2006 he told viewers he had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and by the end of October he was back at the desk while he was still going through chemo. When Michael died in 2021, Ernie wasn't on the show that week, and Shaq, Kenny and Chuck spent about six minutes trying to hold it together while they talked about a kid most of America never met. Then last year he had heart bypass surgery, and this summer he turned 70. Ernie's dad pitched in the big leagues and then called Braves games for decades, and he gave his son a rule Ernie's talked about forever: if somebody spikes you at second base, never rub. If you've ever wondered why nobody's been able to copy Inside, that rule is a big part of it. Barkley could say the dumbest thing imaginable, Shaq could fall out of his chair, Kenny could go running to the big board, and Ernie would just pick it up and bring it back to basketball with that yellow legal pad. Those three got to be chaos because the guy in the middle never made his own stuff the show. He still calls hosting a "get-to job," and he was calling it that the same year he buried his son. So when Charles Barkley, who's roasted pretty much everybody alive on live TV, can't finish a sentence to the man, that's why.
Charles Barkley and the guys give Ernie Johnson his flowers. This is a must watch. (via @ohnohedidnt24)

As a lawyer and a journalist, I can say without any hedge that it is laughable that @cenkuygur thinks that objective commentary on CNN is defamation. It’s not surprising that he doesn’t know the law, he doesn’t know or understand international law on genocide (there is no genocide in Gaza) and he does not understand—or care— that he will no longer get a free pass for his recycling of old antisemitic tropes. He is a bully who is accustomed to getting his way through intimidation and using his money to buy compliance, but his days as an “influencer” are numbered if more media correctly treats him as the merchant of hate that he is.
This is clearly defamatory. Is it @CNN policy to viciously smear someone and not allow them a defense? Do I get to say my piece on your air to counter this defamation or are you giving up any pretenses of objectivity?

Because Palestinians living there aren’t Israeli citizens, Ihab. Citizenship determines voting rights in national elections. It’s basic civics, not rocket science.
The most laughably stupid Israeli hasbara line you’ll hear today: “Arabs can vote in Israel, so it can’t be apartheid.” Now tell me: how can more than 700,000 Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, vote in Israeli elections, while Palestinians living in the same territory cannot?

If you’re actually interested in the success of the Right, you can answer this question immediately and clearly. If you’re a grifter just trying to milk retarded people for money and clout, you cannot answer this question clearly. (Even his non-answer demonstrates a basic lack of knowledge about details pertaining to the case, trial, etc.) You have to do the influencer routine of: - false humility (I don’t know. I’m brave enough to admit that.) - allusion to forbidden knowledge (THEYRE hiding something) - cynical embrace of milquetoast Christianity as some kind of inclusive anti-Regime identity that steps on as few toes (potential Instagram likes) as possible You have to be an idiot to entertain people like this. An Instagram reel about the decline of home ownership is the price of your unconditional loyalty. Pathetic.
Last night, I asked James Fishback who he thought killed Charlie Kirk. This was his response:

One of the easiest ways to gauge if someone is a good person or not is to check how ardently "pro Palestine" they are online. The more obsessive they are about it, the worse a human they are, every single time.

"If you didn't hear [Will Anderson Jr.'s] name today, then I did a pretty good job. I'm not too shy about saying I'm the best right tackle in the NFL. People can go watch the tape and take from it what they will. I did my job today." - Jermaine Eluemunor

“Everyone knows it” isn’t a substantive argument either genius. Show the calculation linking aid to Israel with grocery prices. You made the claim, do the fucking maths. Lowest-common-denominator bullshit from Cenk & co who think Israel sets the price of bananas 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Turkey takes more money than Israel and has committed ACTUAL genocide.
New @RebellionPac ad dropping in Michigan. We have to suffer here at home, so Israel can get all its wars. That’s why they buy politicians like Mike Rogers. He promised to serve Israel “unconditionally,” but never made that promise to you.

The anti Ben Gvir and Smotrich talking point is very common in the West under the theory that Israel would be embraced again if only the Israeli Right wing was sidelined. But that love would last only a few minutes, if that long. The post October 7th reality is nearly ALL Israelis want leaders to stand strong against the threats that surround them and not make concessions that will endanger their security. Half the country may hate Bibi, but they frankly wouldn't change most of his military policies. Naive thinking gave away Gaza and didn't see the ongoing threat of the Iranian backed militarized enemies in Israel's north and south. Going back to that place is suicidal, even if you think a few more members of Congress will then be less hostile to Israel. Electing an Israeli Left wing government may feel good for some Americans, but it will never be enough to appease the growing hatred for Israel in the minds of college students and the media, poisoned by a decades long Qatari funded hate campaign. I would love it if Israeli politicians were always diplomatic, but sometimes they have to be brutally honest. It may hurt our ears, but we don't suffer the same consequences that they do. Israeli voters don't have the luxury of being wrong again about those who are determined to destroy their country and the Jews who live there. Picking olives is easy. Protecting Jews is much harder. If we truly support the only democracy in the Middle East, we should let them elect their own government, and not pretend that these two guys are the real obstacle to peace, love and harmony.
I said I wasn’t going to weigh in on who should be prime minister of Israel as that is a decision for Israeli citizens. I did, however, want to share one point of view from the perspective of someone who has an understanding of how Israel is perceived in America. Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich have caused Israel enormous reputational damage with their statements and actions which are presented in the global media as representing the voice and will of all Israelis. As such, a government formed without Ben-Gvir and Smotrich will send a message to the rest of the world that Israel is turning a new page. This will allow Israel to rebuild lost credibility, increase the opportunity for an expansion of the Abraham Accords, and enjoy a better relationship with Democrats and Republicans and Americans at large.

Ackman thinks that the job of the Israeli government is to look good in the eyes of the gentiles instead of defending its citizens against the Jihad. Sad! Pro tip Bill: people respect you when you are strong.

To clarify, you are, in this tweet: 1. Implying that Lindsey Graham was pro-Israel because Israel was blackmailing him with sex tapes. You have zero proof of this. Because you're a psychotic liar. 2. Claiming, again without evidence, that I'm fine with such tactics being used by "my friends," and that I'm also in favor of covering up sexual crimes. Because you're a psychotic liar. I hope you get the mental care you so desperately require.
Notice someone getting upset when you expose people who might have blackmail on them. Who else has sex tapes that might be used to control them? I’m sure @benshapiro wouldn’t want them exposed either. That would take away an important tool for his friends.

My craziest conspiracy theory—the one most likely to scandalize and enrage people across the political spectrum—is that Lindsey Graham might not have been a homosexual.

You can always have a child who's cuter, smarter, or more talented than your own. Would you give your child up for adoption and go looking for a better one? Of course not. Because this child is YOURS. That's the point of marriage. Of course there are men out there who are richer, smarter, stronger, and more handsome than your husband. And of course there are women out there who are prettier, smarter, kinder, or more charming than your wife. But this one is YOURS. When you marry someone, you're not choosing the best available option on the market; you're making them your own flesh and blood. Irreplaceable.
"Call Her Daddy" host Alex Cooper & actress Sophia Bush: if a woman is questioning whether she can do better than her current husband, "the answer is always yes." "This idea that it's too late or you're too old, or who are you to want more, that's patriarchy. That is crazy."

There really are people who genuinely believe the whole argument is whether some guy was some thing. But the Messiah in Judaism is not an inherent quality of a person to be detected or disproved through an empirical test. The Messiah, by definition, is the one whom Israel accepts as their Messiah. Thus, the rejection of a given individual by the collective entity of Israel is not a “proof”that he was not the Messiah, the rejection itself - as the normative decision of the Jewish nation - is what constitutes him as non-messianic. This is why Maimonides rules that the Messiah is not required to perform signs or wonders; he must simply be accepted by Israel, and if, upon that acceptance, he achieves the historical and physical redemption of Israel, that outcome itself constitutes him as the Messiah. If he is accepted and acts, but fails to achieve that redemption, he is not a false messiah, but a failed messiah - a historical candidate who did not fulfill the task. But if he is rejected by Israel from the outset, he is a false messiah by virtue of being rejected. Furthermore- if Israel rejects every candidate, and the historical redemption of the nation is achieved without any individual leader, then the view of Rabbi Hillel - that Israel has no Messiah to come - is what becomes constituted by Israel. And of course, there is also the non Halakhic messiah who is always coming - upon whom our Sages said: “Let him come, but after I die”
Do jews ever feel stressed that maybe that guy really was the messiah
