A brilliant day in Bath for the @host_planet_ Roadshow, where UKSTAA CEO Janet Uttley joined a Q&A session with @jvarleymedia on the Overnight Visitor Levy, business rates, and the all‑important engagement at the recent Political Party Conferences. A great opportunity to support an event that brings together hosts, operators, property managers and suppliers to share knowledge, build relationships and stay ahead of sector developments. The conversations today showed just how much energy and ambition there is across the short‑term rental community. Keep up to date with all our regional activity and access offers for events like this by becoming a UKSTAA member. Join the UKSTAA community: ukstaa.org/membership

Strong engagement at @Conservatives Party Conference this week, with valuable discussions across the Shadow Cabinet, MPs and regional leaders about the role our sector plays and the opportunities ahead. Alongside conference engagement, it was great to join events hosted by the @CBItweets , @The_IoD, @Airbnb and @UKHofficial, strengthening collaboration across the visitor economy. Many thanks to @GarethBaconMP, @JamesCleverly MP, @Mark4WyreForest MP, @griffitha MP, Mayor Paul Bristow, @DrBenSpencer MP, @PeterABedford MP, @Rebecca_SPaul MP, Victoria Atkins MP, @JuliaLopezMP and Sir Andy Street (@andy4wm) for the constructive conversations — plus many other strong connections made over the last few days. Looking forward to building on this momentum.

UKSTAA is pleased to see that the @APPGHandT report on the proposed visitor levy includes our calls for a consistent national levy framework; ringfencing of any levy revenues for tourism investment; a reduction in VAT for hospitality businesses to 10% before any levy is introduced; and a review of cumulative tax burdens facing the sector. We strongly support the principle that any levy needs to protect jobs, enable growth and supports the local tourism offer, particularly in coastal and rural areas where our sector works hard to support the local economy. We will continue to advocate for a carefully considered levy with strong safeguards in place to enable reinvestment into the visitor economy. Thank you to APPG Chair, Chris Webb MP, the APPG and UKHospitality for highlighting these important issues. We look forward to continuing to work in collaboration to support constructively any development in this area. @ChrisWebbMP @UKHofficial @VisitBritainBiz @Steph_Peacock @lisanandy @LGAculturesport

Great to see this swift action in support of pubs and music venues, anything that helps to kickstart not only local visits but the all-important tourism visitor is welcome 👏 Might we also see some support that enables our accommodation providers, who ensure visitors stay longer and spend more in destinations up and down the country? @UKHofficial @tourismsvoice @DCMS @VisitEnglandBiz @VisitBritainBiz @visitwales @VisitScotland @NITouristBoard
I’m giving thousands of pubs, clubs and music venues a 20% cut in business rates. I won’t stand by while these cherished local spaces disappear, replaced by boarded-up windows and ‘For Sale’ signs. They’re the heart of our communities and it’s time we backed them.

Hot tubs = ~40% more revenue for holiday lets. Rachel Brennan of @sykescottages on Holiday Let Insider: it's been the #1 searched feature for ~13 years and nothing's knocked it off. But only if you do it well – don't wedge one in surrounded by walls.🎧⬇️
