Honest take on the Mudwater situation.
100 dollar packs is always going to appear ridiculous.
But such prices is the effect of the distribution method, yield and bounties. If you weren’t at ApeFest, had no BAYC, don’t win raffles, you pretty much are crap out of luck for now. 😂
On-chain integration with a tiered yield system is going to invite pack hoarding, and while bullish, this has its pros and cons.
I wanted to build a deck, but I ain’t got 600 for legendary cards. Might be tough to compete without them.
We will need to be alert for Series 2.

BAYC is goin crazy right now.
Couple that with a stealth launch, booster packs distributed free to holders, the overall quality of the game, immediate online play, and a yield bearing mechanic tied to royalties and their native token $APE, and we now have $100 booster boxes selling for $1,500+.
Degen 💩
There is something to be said about the results of how @BoredApeYC launched their TCG.
Rather than cater to a Web2 audience, they targeted their Web3 holder base and event participants. They established it IRL and on-chain and let the degen market price it organically. 👆🏽
Packs that would normally cost $5 are selling for $70.

I believe one of the core reasons behind this is the on-chain integration. You just can’t underestimate good ol’ degen price action, especially when the product is new and amplified by news and virality.
The strength of the BAYC approach is that it’s all centered around its on-chain ecosystem from the start, while still bridging to Web2 through hybrid physical to digital utility.
They literally have someone opening packs in a warehouse every time you decide to rip a pack on-chain. Some black mirror type crap like @0xQuit said.
This was not a sloppy and rushed execution. It was a masterful accomplishment, and I’m excited to see how it helps proliferate the brand.
