my take on this, pio couldn’t put a name to his feelings for jeongyo as quickly as jeongyo did bc he had much bigger things weighing on him at the time, like proving himself to that disgusting adults surrounding him. but deep down he was already so deeply in love with jeongyo

“After you died I could not hold a funeral,
And so my life became a funeral.”
Context of this poignant line: the relatives of the deceased victims (loved one or friend) were not successful in finding the remains, so one of them said that line because in the end, there is no hope in finding it
