Congratulations to @kevinswebb on his retirement after more than 20 years of public service.
Thank you, Kevin, for your many years of dedicated service and for your contributions to our markets and the public good.
Wishing you all the best in what comes next!
Today I'm retiring from federal service after 21 years (19 at @CFTC and 2 at @TheJusticeDept). Grateful to @JohnBoozman, @CongressmanGT, @ConawayTX11 , @giancarloMKTS, and @BrianQuintenz, and so many colleagues and friends. Most of all, thank you Katherine and Stark! More soon!
Thank you, @lukejpettit, for your service and leadership at @USTreasury.
From helping advance the GENIUS Act in the Senate to his work on digital asset policy at Treasury, Luke has been a thoughtful and effective partner during an incredibly consequential period for our industry.
Grateful for his public service and wishing him all the best in what comes next.
As my chapter at @USTreasury comes to an end, I want to thank President Trump and @SecretaryBessent for the opportunity to serve at @USTreasury.
It has been an honor of a lifetime to work with such talented and patriotic colleagues within Treasury and across the Administration.
There is a lot of great work still underway; I’m looking forward to watching the policy wins continue.
I've spent the past year and a half leading the Blockchain Association through one of the most consequential periods in its history. I'm incredibly proud of what our team accomplished together, especially in navigating a challenging and rapidly evolving environment for the industry. Together, we saw the GENIUS Act become law, held more than 300 Congressional and agency meetings, and, for the first time, the industry will have clear rules of the road thanks to the work we’ve done with the SEC, CFTC, and this Administration. Those achievements belong to an extraordinary team, and I remain deeply grateful for their talent, commitment, and trust.
I'm proud of the work we did together, and I'll be sharing more about what's next for me in the near future.
Blockchain Association CEO @SummerMersinger will step down on October 16, while remaining as an advisor through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition. Board President @KristinSmith will serve as interim CEO beginning on October 17.
We're grateful for Summer's leadership through a historic period for digital asset policy.

It was wonderful to join @CatoInstitute today for a discussion on the current state of regulation and the outlook for regulatory priorities at the SEC and CFTC.
Smart regulation can be durable if it is thoughtfully crafted and implemented the right way.
- Why did American financial markets become the envy of the world?
- How have they contributed to prosperity?
- And what role Washington should—or should not—play in sustaining them?

One vote does not decide our industry’s future. And this headline doesn’t either.
Time and again, @Brian_Armstrong and the @coinbase team in Washington show up for the entire industry and America’s leadership in this technology. I’m proud to stand with them and grateful for their leadership at @BlockchainAssn.
We won’t rest until our industry has clarity in the United States.
A landmark crypto bill collapsed this week after months of protracted negotiations. It marked a spectacular choke by an industry that had just recently begun reveling in its new lobbying clout, with President Trump in its corner. on.wsj.com/4iDH1KI

Countless hours of bipartisan work in the House and Senate, across the agencies, and at the White House have led to today’s vote.
The Senate has an opportunity to advance the most consequential crypto market structure legislation in a generation.
Vote YES on Clarity.
🇺🇸
Today, @BlockchainAssn joins @Crypto_Council and @DigitalChamber in respectfully urging every Senator to vote YES on Clarity. Our joint statement follows:
September 11 is always a day of deep reflection for me. It was likely the first time I fully understood that the democracy and freedoms we enjoy in the United States can never be taken for granted.
I was working for then-Congressman John Thune, sitting near a window on the ground floor of the Longworth House Office Building. My computer was acting up that morning, so I was on the phone with tech support when we saw that a plane had struck the first tower. We talked about the tragedy and what might have caused it as I rebooted my computer for the second time.
Still on the call, we watched the second plane strike the other tower. We immediately understood that this was not an accident.
It did not occur to me that the attack would hit even closer to home until a coworker’s husband called to say he had just seen a plane strike the Pentagon. As we evacuated the building, I frantically searched for a friend who had been at the Pentagon for a meeting earlier that morning. When I found her, we held each other for what felt like a long time.
Then we heard aircraft approaching. People began to scatter until someone yelled, “It’s okay, those are our planes.”
Amid the chaos, a sense of calm followed. We knew the brave men and women of our military had been activated to protect us.
We spent the rest of the day sheltered in a coworker’s apartment a few blocks from the Capitol, trying to reach our colleagues back in South Dakota and our families to let them know we were safe. I remember thinking that evening that someday, children would learn about that day in their history classes. Years later, I have sat with my own children as they learned about September 11, 2001, sharing my own experience on that infamous day in history.
Today, I remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the brave Americans who answered the call to serve.
We welcome the release of the latest Clarity Act text and applaud the bipartisan work that has gone into reaching this point.
We look forward to a successful vote on Tuesday and moving this critical legislation forward.

Illinois should not force companies to spend millions preparing to comply with an unlawful, unclear tax while this case is still being litigated.
That is why we are asking the court to act now – before the January 1 deadline and before the damage is done.
Read our motion:
Today, @BlockchainAssn and @Crypto_Council moved for preliminary injunction to block Illinois's Digital Asset Tax Act before it takes effect January 1.
Digital asset businesses are forced to spend millions building systems to try to comply with an unlawful and unclear tax, all under the threat of felony criminal penalties. We are asking the Court to stop this unlawful and unprecedented tax before it's too late.

1/ Nathan Franzén and I share more common ground than his response suggests.
We both grew up in South Dakota farm families. My dad still farms there and is a loyal customer of a community bank. Growing up, my mother worked for a community bank where I had my first bank account. I remember paying for my first car with a loan from the very same main street bank. I am and will always be a strong advocate for community banks.
But the details and data matter, too. 👇
1/ Big Banks are warning Congress that stablecoins will cause "deposit flight" from community banks.
Meanwhile, Big Banks have spent decades devouring community banks' deposits themselves.
The evidence for their stablecoins claim is non-existent. The evidence for their own draining of community banks is sitting in the FDIC data. 👇

6/ Community banks and stablecoin innovation do not have to be at odds. Banks can issue stablecoins, hold reserves and provide custody and payment services – just as they have adapted to past financial innovations.
