An elderly couple who were filmed racially abusing a Filipino nurse in a park have been jailed. A video of Michael Bairstow, 77, and his 72-year-old wife Fyona making racist comments and assaulting Apple Moorhouse went viral following the incident in Halifax in August 2025. The couple admitted racially aggravated assault and were both jailed for eight weeks.

ICC REJECTS TRUMP SANCTIONS: ‘NO ONE SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR SERVING THE CAUSE OF JUSTICE’
WATCH: The International Criminal Court (ICC) condemns the United States’ decision to impose sanctions on the tribunal as an institution, calling it an attempt to obstruct justice and undermine the international rule of law.
The move follows earlier US sanctions against 13 ICC judges and prosecutors.
The ICC warns that the sanctions threaten its operations and could intimidate those working with the court.
ICC President Tomoko Akane vowed that the tribunal would continue its work independently and impartially, while calling on its 125 member states to help safeguard its operations. | @TristanNodalo
