Fandom spaces have been infiltrated by people who want to be popular/ treated like influencers for their contributions as opposed to just people excited to be surrounded by other people who like the same thing they like and want to show them the cool shit they wrote.

I feel like some of yall are losing the plot… THE HISTORY OF FANFICTION IS PASSING STORIES BETWEEN FANS
THE STAR TREK FANDOM, FOUNDERS OF FANFICTION, WOULD TYPE FICS ON THEIR LITTLE TYPEWRITERS, PHOTOCOPY THEM, AND PASS THEM AROUND AT CONS
Eddie fundamentally does not believe he and Buck CAN overstep. Buck lives in fear of acknowledging that. Delicious.

I need like 98 people to take down their tweets that make fan fiction sound like ownership before it hits 100 and Anne Rice’s bones reanimate on all hallows Eve to end all our fun

tell me when we are ready to talk about the fact that buck is more aware about the platonic boundaries in his friendship with eddie BECAUSE he is queer and knows how friendship between a queer and non-queer person works. that there are Rules. eddie is not aware of them+

I find it quite ironic how many AO3 authors I'm seeing who are mad about people downloading their work without their permission (from a site that explicitly allows it) while the entire point of said work is using someone else's characters, ideas, and IP without permission.

Everyone who writes fic has their own little twist on characterization but never in my life will I understand looking at Shane motherfucking Hollander and thinking "I am going to write him like if Sheldon Cooper was a sad girl on a CW drama"
