T.E.N.P ENVIRONMENT

I was honoured today to officiate the opening ceremony of The Eldoret National Polytechnic's 13th Annual International Conference. I took the opportunity to tour the upcoming ultra-modern library; soon to be a hub of knowledge and digital learning for the Polytechnic's fraternity. The quality of works and progress made in the construction, and moreso that trainees of the institution are engaged at the site as part of training is satisfactory. While addressing the participants at the two-day Conference whose theme is 'Competencies in applied research, science, and innovation for sustainable development', I underscored the need for partnering with industry for practical research and innovation initiatives to solve pertinent societal problems as well as commercialization of the innovations.

Today, I joined @giz_gmbh, industry representatives, and Finnish Embassy representatives during the Steering Committee Meeting for the ‘Promotion of Youth Employment and Vocational Training’ programme. This was an opportunity to take stock on the implementation of Dual Training in Kenya, celebrate the milestones achieved and craft strategies to address bottlenecks for successful implementation. During the meeting, I commended the progress in implementation, especially the collaboration between TVET institutions and industry in skilling our youth. I affirmed, “Training our young people is by doing!” and reiterated our support as the State Department for #TVET in ensuring stronger linkages with industry through the Industrial Liaison Office. By working together, we can build a stronger, more dynamic TVET system that prepares our youth for success in the workforce and drives the continued growth and prosperity of our nation.
