Hindsight is always 20/20.
When Brent Venables hired Ben Arbuckle and landed John Mateer, Sooner Nation was all in. Arbuckle was a rising star coming off a top-10 offense at Washington State. Mateer was the consensus No. 1 player in the portal — Miami, UNC (with Belichick/Brady/Gronk in the mix), and others were all over him. Wazzu fought hard to keep him. This was the high-demand package everyone wanted.
It didn’t fully translate in the SEC. That’s reality. Venables made the tough call to move on from Arbuckle and keep adjusting. That’s what a head coach is supposed to do.
Building in the toughest conference in the sport is hard. In Brent I trust — even if it’s not the popular take right now. I really hope he gets it right this time. #OUDNA #Sooners

Sooner Nation, I know things haven’t gone the way any of us wanted, and I understand the frustration. Losing hurts, especially when you represent a university with such high expectations. But I believe God puts us through adversity to build our character, strengthen our faith, and teach us how to respond when things get hard. We can’t change what’s already happened, but we can control how we respond moving forward.
“For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again.” — Proverbs 24:16
Our story isn’t finished. Keep your faith, keep believing, and keep fighting. Better days are earned through the hardest ones. Boomer Sooner. ❤️🤍

Former NFL star and Oklahoma tight ends coach Jason Witten will take over play-calling duties for the remainder of the season, per multiple reports.
The Sooners fired OC Ben Arbuckle after ranking last in the SEC in yards per game and second-to-last in scoring.
I’ll ride with this team through the season, but man tonight was sloppy. Can’t have another outing like that. Gotta find an identity offensively, it changes every week. Last week we finally ran the ball more than 10 times with a couple backs and tonight no back had more than 7…

JUST IN: Chet Holmgren is expected to miss 8-10 WEEKS with a knee injury. First, Cason Wallace, then JDub, and now Chet?!
Hug your local OKC fan, this is just terrible.
