The potential game trees for many potential hotspots around the globe post use would be so terrifying it's hard to comprehend. All the softer levers the U.S. once had to deter such a thing, which has been effective for the better part of a century would vanish. Proliferation would explode. The U.S. would likely no longer be a superpower beyond it's military capabilities and likely short-term wealth. Ever ounce of moral highground would evaporate. The entire world would be on the brink by default.

If a nuclear weapon were used on Pick Axe mountain in Iran by the US or Israel or an empty field in Ukraine by Russia etc, it doesn’t matter, it would open up Pandora’s box and would make the U.S. and the world dramatically less safe. This isn’t even a question of how big of a disaster the use, in any manner, of a nuclear weapon would be. It would represent the largest foreign policy error ever by the United States if we were involved. We can only hope this claim isn’t accurate in any way.

Whether a CCA is “affordable” or “mass” enough depends on the mission, what the alternatives are, and how well the thing performs. If the F-47 ends up north of $300M and an F-35A Block 4 is somewhere around $100M, that leaves a lot of space for a survivable, appropriately equipped CCA's. Not everything has to come in under $20 or $30M. You can’t jam the entire CCA effort into an artificial cost constraint driven by early-stage “attritability” requirements, or skip the hard DOTMLPF work needed to keep climbing the ladder toward greater autonomy and capability, over time, in the CCA fleet. Those who want these to stay attritable forever, and those who want the first increment to be a large, expensive, supersonic stealth UCAV, both underappreciate what it takes to field game-changing capability at scale. They also underestimate what semi-autonomous or autonomous wingmen can do when employed in numbers.
The paradox of CCAs. Affordable enough to be bought in mass - yet survivable enough to be effective. Jury still out on the sweet spot it seems.

China is racing to fix the one gap U.S. planners have long said blocks a Taiwan invasion: enough amphibious ships. Beijing is now building six new Type 071 landing platform docks at two shipyards at once. Four at Hudong-Zhonghua in Shanghai and two at COMEC’s Longxue yard in Guangzhou. Two in Shanghai already launched (August and October 2026). The rest are under construction. Satellite imagery shows the Guangzhou hulls advanced, with one nearly ready to launch. These ships carry hundreds of marines, vehicles, and up to four LCACs each. Eight Type 071s already serve. Six more would grow the fleet 75% to 14. U.S. assessments have repeatedly said China lacks the maritime lift and logistics for a large-scale Taiwan operation. Dual-yard production is Beijing’s answer. The amphibious armada is being built in plain sight.

Greece has contracted for three KC-390 from @Embraer, with options for a further three. It means that the Hellenic Air Force will have an organic tanker for the first time, albeit only able to refuel Rafale and Mirage 2000. One wonders what does the future hold for the C-130J.

Show this to Trump. He'll love it. The Chinese have released footage showing a DF-26B ballistic missile being launched at an exact replica of the US Navy's newest aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford, at a test range in the Taklamakan Desert, Xinjiang.

🇸🇪 Saab has introduced its new Combat Boat 90 Capability X (CB90 CX) craft in three optionally crewed configurations. @Saab The CB90 CX configurations include intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), anti-ship warfare, and short-range air defence (SHORAD). This expands the role of combat boats beyond troop transport, enabling them to contribute directly to surveillance, surface strike, and air defence missions. The new CB90 CX features increased payload capacity and comprehensively updated onboard systems, across a wider range of sea states. Designed for optionally crewed operations using Saab’s Autonomous Ocean Core, CB90 CX retains the well-regarded characteristics of its troop-carrying predecessors while enabling the integration of a broader range of capabilities. The three initial configurations have distinct operational roles. The ISR configuration focuses on multi-domain situational awareness and uses Saab's Giraffe 1X radar. The anti-ship warfare configuration provides over-the-horizon strike capability against surface vessels, while the SHORAD configuration uses an anti-aircraft autocannon for air defence. CB90 CX is currently under production for Sweden as the launch customer and will co-exist alongside the existing smaller CB90 NG. @Forsvarsmakten #Saab #CB90 #CB90CX

Just recently, we reported the passage of the Liaoning Carrier Strike Group of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) through the Basilan Strait, near Zamboanga City, as it passed through the southern part of the country. The full picture was unveiled, with both the Philippine Navy and the Philippine Coast Guard actively monitoring the carrier strike group, where the former deployed the BRP Diego Silang (FFG7) frigate first; it was then accompanied by BRP Emilio Jacinto under the Western Mindanao Naval Command, then the BRP Sarangani of the Philippine Coast Guard when it passed near Sarangani province, and then the BRP Artemio Ricarte when it passed into the jurisdiction of the Eastern Mindanao Naval Command. While the entire passage can be dismissed as basically an innocent passage under international law, plus the area near Basilan Strait being a valid maritime route under the Archipelagic Sea Lanes Law or RA 12065, the appearance of the Liaoning Carrier Strike Group is still a cause of concern worth monitoring at that time, given the increased tensions between the Philippines and China as of late. #PDA #PitzDefAnalysis #PhilippineNavy #PhilippineCoastGuard #PLAN #PeoplesLiberationArmyNavy #BRPDiegoSilang #BRPArtemioRicarte #BRPEmilioJacinto #BRPSarangani Image (c) @Indowatchosint

A video has emerged documenting the moment when a Russian unmanned surface vessel (USV) approached and targeted the Liberia-flagged, Greek-owned CONTSHIP JET container ship off the coast of Bulgaria on October 28, 2026. According to available information, the vessel was struck by at least three naval drones and subsequently sunk in the Black Sea waters. All 18 of its crew-members were rescued unharmed. In the last few weeks, Russia has escalated its strike campaign against commercial shipping in the Black Sea theater. Multiple ships were struck in the exclusive economic zones and, in some cases, territorial waters of NATO members - Romania and Bulgaria.

Russia’s new Geran-5 drones can reach speeds of up to 1,000 km/h, and AI-equipped drones will be able to find and attack trains, warehouses and vehicles on their own, according to Ukrainian military communications expert Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov. He warned that Russia could launch “a thousand drones” that search for and strike targets autonomously, with no operator involved.
