Fantastic keynote from Steve Bland reflecting on his experience supporting someone with cancer. A poignant reminder that better, more meaningful, support is needed for family members and carers. #bpos2025

I'm unusually saddened by the news of a body being found in the search for Michael Mosley. A man who strived to use science to make people's lives better. Came across as a lovely, warm and kind man. Thoughts with his family, and hopefully they see how well thought of he was. R.I.P

This is a major issue and so unregulated. Desperate people resort to desperate measures and are ripe for exploitation. Challenging area in practice and a more common issue in the social media era @IrishCancerSoc @TheHPRA
In cancer care, use of alternative medicine is associated with increased death.
In this study, alternative medicine advertisements on social media exploited the hope of cancer patients by unethically sharing testimonials (anecdotes) of past patients who allegedly were cured: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article… by @caulfieldtim @marco_zenone @jeremycsnyder @spidermaani @maizie333 @BelislePipon

So @RishiSunak nurses “take blood pressures, make beds and settle patients for the night”! I suggest you would be better served spending time with ICU nurses, Cardiology nurses, theatre staff, ED nurses, Clinical nurse specialists etc.. did you even ask the nurses what they do?
