Good read. Thank you for sharing @TheTribhuvan sir.
The migration dream that refuses to die: They sold land, pledged homes, borrowed money and paid agents lakhs to reach the US. Some were deported within days; others spent months in detention. Less than a year later, many have taken another leap of faith, this time towards Europe. Others are trying to rebuild their lives in Punjab. #Punjab indianexpress.com/article/lo…

Taxation is the only thing that doesn’t obey principle of natural justice.
Dear FM Madam @nsitharaman ji, I am hearing that you are finally considering some rectifications in the Capital Markets. Let me share my suggestions once again. - Abolish LTCG (Please remember that investors are investing their post income tax capital). So you need to incentivize long term patient capital. - Quadruple Taxation should be Abolished in Capital Markets (Income Tax + STT on Buy + Capital Gains on Sell + STT on Sell) - Bring Capital Gains from Markets in Rebate under Section 87A. This will ensure that people who only have income from stock markets can also get the full benefit upto 12 Lakh. - FIIs lose a lot due to currency. Many invested at ₹70 a dollar and today they are exiting at ₹95 a dollar. They are taxed, even though they lose due to currency depreciation. We need to somehow ensure that they get taxed only on Dollar Terms. We need a think tank to ensure that they are playing on level field. I sincerely hope that the Government rolls back on LTCG which was introduced in 2018 (totally unnecessary). If you implement above steps, your STT & STCG collection will eventually hit new highs and it's a WIN-WIN. I hope every investor reading this would share widely and ensure that FM Madam takes necessary steps !! Our Companies Earnings are at All Time High. These Steps are Crucial to attract Long Term Capital. On behalf of investors, #FI

An information which may be very disturbing to everyone. A medical distributor of a particular injection which is used in chemotherapy, his wife was suffering from cancer. She was taking treatment in a very renowned hospital. We will not take the name of the hospital. So the dealer requested the hospital authorities, sir I am myself a dealer and to me the injection comes at Rs. 11,000 dealer price. The hospital refused to administer that injection and charged Rs. 1,30,000 for that injection. Can you show any justification for this loot, please? Why this difference? Where does the money go? The Election Commission has filed its reply in the Supreme Court to the petition on how the three-member Commission functions. 27 pages, approved by all three members. Its argument: every decision was unanimous, and a Commissioner’s note is a “suggestion,” not a decision. Here’s what it addresses, and what it doesn’t. 🧵 (1/10)

The Indian government's privacy law, which would require journalists to seek consent from people they write about, amounted to pre-censorship and could lead to newsrooms shutting down, media groups told the Supreme Court, starting the most high-profile challenge against the legislation reut.rs/4yKkfFc

EXCLUSIVE: India’s biggest news publishers including Ambani's Network18, Adani's NDTV, Indian Express, Times Internet & others mount the most high-profile challenge yet to Modi’s privacy law, warning it would “render investigative journalism a benign and neutered recorder of events.” DNPA (@publishers_news) has taken the law to the Supreme Court. They argue it would trample investigative work and let New Delhi identify journalists’ sources. The provisions “constitute pre-censorship which is anathema to any democracy worth its name,” the group’s 698-page filing says. The key concerns: 🔹 Consent: requiring a journalist to notify the subject of an investigation and seek consent “would allow that subject to destroy evidence, intimidate witnesses” 🔹 Erasure: people can withdraw consent and demand their data be erased, which the group says could force publishers to unpublish or heavily redact news reports 🔹 Sources: a “nakedly unguided” power to demand information that “can extend to privileged communications in possession of a reporter or the informant” In a letter to the government, the group said India “has chosen to grant broad exemptions to the state, while failing to extend any corresponding protection to the press.” reuters.com/business/media-t…

Hackers are having a Halloween party.
India news: Central Bank of India lost ₹13.96 crore in 187 unauthorised RTGS transfers to 36 banks from Oct 15 to 17, police say. Unknown people allegedly got into the RBI-owned IFTAS Central SFMS server through the bank's core banking system. The money was customers' funds. The bank first called it a "technical glitch". RBI, CERT-In and NCIIPC have been told and Maharashtra cyber police have a case. If you bank there, check your RTGS debits from those dates. hindustantimes.com/cities/mu…
