Revolut put 2,000 engineers on a self-hosted open model at $0.30 per million tokens. The bill fell to a tenth. Then usage went up. With unlimited tokens, engineers used AI for Jira, docs and inbox work, and lead time improved 70%. Jevons paradox, inside one bank.

I see many people think $GOOG’s flat Q/Q search revenue is just a noise and it’ll reaccelerate again. It won’t, not in a sustainable way. Zero click searches now make up 68% of all searches and it’ll only go up. Revenue opportunity in search is diminishing year by year.

Reddit call was absolutely fascinating. Everyone should listen to it as a bellwether for where the internet is going - AI Mode is increasingly default Google experience - AI Mode provides rich info and data in line, less incentive to leave search - AI Mose incentivizes dialog, Google wants to keep you engaged to serve more ads at each turn - Google will milk search for as much revenue as possible as they transition from a search company to a cloud service and chip company - As traffic from humans becomes more scarce this will put Google in an increasingly adversarial position to the rest of the internet - This is a massive headwind to all media type companies who are not destinations - This is a massive headwind to all content-driven go-to-market motions especially in the SMB. You have seen companies like HubSpot and Monday.com get crushed by this funnel collapse We are entering the end game - a knife fight for the remaining and dwindling volume of human traffic on the internet

You can hate Israel, or you can come and learn why it’s the only nation on earth that manages to be rich without effectively sterilising itself. This, not climate change or AI, is going to be the world’s main problem for the rest of this century. Israel alone has the answer.
Sinwar and all his followers are dead forever—they chose death and were defeated—but the victors, the people of Israel live: “Am Yisrael Chai.” 🇮🇱 Shabbat Shalom from Tel Aviv.

1/5 The massive Yandex outages following recent drone strikes on Russian data centers have triggered a noticeable shift online. While many celebrated a "drop in bot traffic," the reality is far more nuanced. Here is how it actually impacts Russian influence ops. 👇

It’s hard to do product development when crazy people regularly show up at your house trying to hurt you or your loved ones. But being a visible leader was a necessary sacrifice to rally the team & create a vision that people could get excited about.

"This is the largest fossilized human turd ever found. It belonged to a sick Viking in the 9th Century AD, and has been valued at $39,000".... The large, “precious” Poop, officially known as the Lloyds Bank Coprolite, the word “Coprolite” simply meaning fossilized dung. This 1200 year old log that is thought to be the largest recorded in human history. At 8 inches long and 2 inches wide, specimen was discovered, in York northwest England in 1972 by construction workers during the building of a Lloyds TSB branch, in an area once ruled by Norse warriors. It takes its name from institution Lloyds Bank. The huge poo had another red-letter moment in 1991 when dung scientist Dr. Andrew Jones appraised the piece in the name of insurance. “This is the most exciting piece of excrement I’ve ever seen,” he told the Wall Street Journal at the time. “In its own way, it’s as irreplaceable as the Crown Jewels.” Paleoscatologists have been able to discern much from the girthy deposit, including that its producer ate mostly meat and bread was likely a Viking, lived in approximately the 9th Century AD, and had a gut full of parasites. Indeed, the manure was found to be infested with Whipworm and Maw-worm eggs, suggesting the Viking often had an upset stomach and other gastrointestinal problems. Today, the log resides in a glass box at the Jorvik Viking Centre, York, England; where, in 2003, visitors dropped it, breaking it into three pieces. It has since been repaired. The Centre is proud to call itself the turd’s final resting place, even hosting a virtual workshop in February called “Poo Day!” in which fans learned about the dung’s significance.  #archaeohistories

For most of the last century, companies hired serious designers, illustrators, and artists for the most boring document they published: the annual report. I built an archive of 3000+ of them, spanning 1945-1991.
