Jet fuel prices remain a challenge for U.S. aviation.
The latest @EIAgov data show Gulf Coast jet fuel prices at $3.68 per gallon, about 61% higher than the comparable week last year.
Expanding domestic SAF production can help build a more diverse and resilient aviation fuel supply.

I appreciated reading the recent Brownfield Ag News piece featuring Kelly Nieuwenhuis and his perspective on the Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline and Iowa’s biofuels economy.
Kelly speaks from real experience — as a producer, a past president of the Siouxland Energy Cooperative Board, and someone who is signing easements on his own land.
One of the most important points he made was that many Iowa farmers have now endured multiple years of selling corn at or below the cost of production. That reality matters, and it should frame this entire discussion.
His message is simple: infrastructure investments like this pipeline are about creating new value, stronger markets, and better long-term economics for producers who are already under significant financial pressure. Strengthening ethanol and lowering the carbon intensity of biofuels isn’t abstract policy — it directly affects farm income, rural jobs, and community stability.
Voices like Kelly’s are essential right now. When producers who are living the economics every day talk about the need for innovation and investment, it’s worth listening carefully.

As a founding member of the Senate Sustainable Aviation Caucus, I’m committed to supporting the sustainable fuels industry to bolster our aviation industry, create new markets for KS farmers & promote American energy independence. That’s why I introduced the Securing America’s Fuels Act with @SenAmyKlobuchar, @SenJoniErnst & @SenCortezMasto to strengthen these industries.

Nebraska is showing what’s possible when you embrace low-carbon fuels. Their producers will win new markets and premiums. If Iowa follows Nebraska’s lead, both states can lead the world together in low-carbon biofuels. Let’s get this right for our farmers.
