Anyone else get told by developers that AI can replace designers, then get asked for a Figma mockup showing what a disabled button should look like?

Doing an implementation of Sam and Ravi's ragged blocks in Hazel to help visualize some stuff

Claude Code does not work well for perfectionists like me who often polish graphics pixel by pixel. I would spend 20x more time trying to fix its mistakes creating a photorealistic bookshelf instead of just doing it myself manually and visually in Framer.

Everyone’s seen the Sketchpad demo. Few understand how it actually works. I reimplemented Sketchpad from scratch, and I’m making short videos that recreate Sutherland’s demos and explain how they work. The first 8 are up — from drawing a line to the famous rivet. Link below 👇

Some random things I need to say out loud: 1) AI so far is dangerously converging power in the hands of few and increasingly swapping labor for capital/compute 2) In a hyper capitalist environment that’s a recipe for disaster without rethinking income and what gives life purpose 3) Some of you are way too eager to give up on your own thinking 4) Some people and ideas are a cancer to democracy and society. Support is a choice. So is not associating. 5) We are at an all time low for ethics, principles and morality 6) Even thinking of AI welfare before welfare of all humans is deeply immoral 7) New Siri still sucks 8) I don’t quite get the iPhone Duo 9) The Mission S is beautiful

Instead of .md specs, try this: make the system a state machine (or rather, a reducer). Ask your slopus to make an interactive diagram with real events from your flow and the real reducer. Step through them, asking the agent "whys" this and that.

Vibe-coded OSS libs are almost meaningless today The value of open source has never really been to publish code for free The value has always been someone willing to maintain that code for the years to come, so that you can rely on it

I suspect there’s an extraordinary amount of single-developer best in class programs and software that aren’t yet being widely distributed.

Designers and engineers could change the world together, but we’ve turned creation into a competition for personal glory. Everyone wants to be remembered. Almost nobody asks what’s worth leaving behind.

🗞️ an application in lisp you grow by talking to it Why is software built the way it is now, rather than grown through iterative use of LLMs? What if you could develop your application just by chatting with it? Live and interactive, with no compilation steps. ghuntley.com/lisp/
