Hey California! Be careful this election because the big money creeps are trying to trick you (again).
Fun. At Stanford pain clinic for tmj. Had to argue with staff to just put on a surgical. “But you’re in a mask I don’t have to mask. Yes but I have to unmask during my appt. The doctor has to I don’t have to. That’s not how infection works.

Someone was kidnapped by ICE in my neighborhood today, they got him by sending text messages to him saying he had a package at UPS to renew his USCIS paperwork. When he got there, UPS told him they don't send text messages and then ICE kidnapped him in the UPS parking lot.

And the number that needs saying out loud. Only half the vaccinated participants pushed their peak nasal load below what's considered a transmissible level. Vacc reduces shedding. It doesn't stop it. The authors conclude that vaccines aimed at transmission will need to go into the nose rather than the arm.

People would rightly be outraged, and there would be a media firestorm. The media response here: crickets.

Stop mink farming for more than ethical reasons.
"Mink, more so than any other farmed species, pose a risk for the emergence of future disease outbreaks and the evolution of future pandemics."

Mink farming is a massive pandemic risk. It's insane that they are allowed to exist. Now we have an active H5N1 outbreak on a mink farm, & "state officials have no clear plan to rein it in."
Imagine if uncontrolled H5N1 transmission in mink were allowed in a lab... 1/4
There's an active H5N1 outbreak on a mink farm in Utah and no one is doing much about it:

This seems under-reported. I think it illustrates the danger of the virus, the need for more institutional competence, and the comparative risks of farms vs virology

Just like that, counties and states in the US have reported more than 4000 measles cases in 2026.
Wear a respirator. Get an MMR booster if your measles titers are low by blood test or if you live in a measles-active region.
If you contract measles, do not expose others.

Disabled people make society uncomfortable.
Left or right…. It doesn’t matter.
People want to believe it can’t happen to them.
That if they become disabled there will be a magic “fix”.
We challenge their denial, so they deny us solidarity and support.
That’s ableism.

You can do everything right and still become disabled. You can eat right, exercise, take vitamins, get sun, and still become disabled. No one is immune to disability. We’re all vulnerable. The sooner you acknowledge that, the sooner you’ll realize accessibility benefits everyone.

Misogyny in medicine is rampant.
Women are frequently ignored, dismissed or psychologized.
Told it’s “all in your head”.
Not trusted to know our own bodies.
Bring a man to the appointment and watch the whole tone shift.
The culture needs to change.
One-third of women in the United States have struggled to get doctors to take their symptoms seriously, according to a new survey. And of those women, more than half said their health issues have affected their work and homelives. abc7ne.ws/M2gXNW

This is why both my husband and I wear PAPR + KN95 or KN100 combo in all shared air spaces. We both wear either KN95 or KN100 when outdoors and not on our own 10-acre property. Safety first. 😷

I got a hard sell for all the vaccines that I'm due for. " I'm immunodeficient I don't respond to vaccines." We can do those today. "The last one made me bed bound for years". Well its up to you. "no it's not, believe me I want to have vaccines work, but they don't." :(
He was of course not wearing an n95 when levels locally are high for covid and flu, with a long line of people picking up prescriptions all day. Some of them are no doubt there with covid. I'm glad they're trying. Creeped out @Walgreens is looking at my vaccine state records tho
desparately trying to get all my rx orders into canadian pharmacies so that I can do things like stand upright.. since I can't get medication in the US anymore that actually works because the @FDA sucks and lets unsafe ineffective meds just flow in legally but not ones that work.
